I have a BGS 9 of a McDavid FWA. Would it be smart to crossover it over to PSA in hopes of a higher grade or would that be ridiculous?

It won't get a 10. You can try submitting with a request for minimum grade 10, but you'll likely just spend money fruitlessly.

you will have a higher chance to resub this @ BGS hoping for a 9.5 than crossing it at PSA hoping for a 10

What’s the chance of BGS changing their grade?
It depends on the sub grades. If you have a "true" 9 (all four sub grades are 9), chances of it getting bumped up are probably zero. If you have two sub grades of 9 and two of 9.5, then maybe. That's the only way I'd consider it, because the chances of two or more sub grades being raised in a regrade isn't good at all. It also kind of depends on which sub grades are which. For example, the Auston Matthews YG...I feel like there is a lot of inconsistency in the centering sub grade on that card. So could one person have given a sub grade in their eyes that would be a different sub grade to someone else? Definitely. But it has to be worth the shot, especially for a card like that, to actually try for it.

well said, may be is better to post an scan of the card to figure it out better, as this card has a lot of fundamental problem, such as the edges and what not

It has three “9”s and one 9.5
Just leave it how it is. The odds of bumping up to a BGS 9.5 is pretty slim, as you'd need two of those 9 sub grades to be bumped to a 9.5. And if you're that far away from a BGS 9.5, you definitely will not get a PSA 10 on a crossover. Regardless, a BGS 9 is nothing to be upset about with a card like this. Even though the grade doesn't do much for the value, it does ensure an agreed-upon condition for the future and also protects it better than pretty much anything else would.

A BGS 9 is still a MINT condition card. The market may not respect them as much but that means they are incredible bargains and often undervalued. I buy BGS 9's for my PC and can get them for just a small premium over a raw copy. Authenticated, MINT, and slabbed for essentially raw price plus a few bucks? Hell yes!

BGS doesn't do themselves any favors by making the BGS 9 labels silver instead of gold. It implants a stigma in collectors minds that gold is good and silver is trash. A mint card is not trash. Its a great grade for a card.

PSA 9's have been out selling BGS 9's and if you ask me it's because their labels are consistent and they don't try to make the owner feel bad about having one.

This for sure. The Silver/Gold label is definitely a thing, psycologically speaking.

Hmm I am in a similiar boat but never thought of resubmitting. My copy has sub grades of Centering and Surface 9.5, Edges 9, Corners 8.5...not sure if it is worth it to send? I recall hearing that SPA FW's from this year had either edge or corner issues.
