The :yotes: are tied for first. in the westeren conference with the :hawks:
The Coyotes have played two more games than Chicago but still what the

congrats to the 'yotes!!! I would like to see them go far in the playoffs...hopefully they are not just satisfied with doing well in the regular season (i.e. sharks). :p

I can't believe they have won 9 straight games and the Sharks have lost 6 straight.

congrats to the Yotes and I too would like to see them go far in the Playoffs and hopefully knock the Wings out in the first round if they are matched up.

Very surprising to say the least, BUT.

Shootout wins, this season:

Phoenix: 12
San Jose: 6
Chicago: 8

So, the adjusted points without the circus act would be:

Phoenix: 85
San Jose: 90
Chicago: 89

Coyotes playing great, but the point total is inflated due to the shootout wins. Shootouts mean nothing come playoff time, when the acutal game of hockey is used until a winner is declared. Unless, of course, the NHL 'pulls a NASL' and changes the rules of the entire playoff structure after the first game has been played.

...and yet they still cant fill their building. I think I heard that attendance is actually down a few thousand per game compared to last year (barely 10K a game). I wish they would just re-locate and get it over with.

They have definitely build a decent team out of many lesser known players. Good for them as it's been a rough road for that franchise. Hopefully their success and lack of support will finally place that team in somewhere appreciated.

Last home game Saturday vs Blackhawks was 17,534 which is better than a lot of teams and they don't play the trap ie: the fans were awake for the 3rd period. If they go anywhere in the playoffs they might even sell a few season tix.

Congrats on making it this far. And I say that hesitantly.

Teams like Detroit, Minnesota, Calgary, Anaheim, and Dallas have been powerhouses for the better portion of this millenia so far. With those 5 teams struggling, obviously 5 others had to "sneak" in. Enter Phoenix.

Obviously PHX "earned" their record, but I think it may have more to do with a leveling of the western playing field (ie: the awesome teams from years past are no longer awesome) as opposed to outstanding play (with the exception of Vezina winner Bryzgalov, the team itself is pretty "meh"). Goes to show what a hot young goalie can do for your team. I know my Rags wouldnt even be thinking 8 spot if not for Henrik the last 5 years.

Enjoyo it while it lasts (and before the team packs up).
