Decades - The 80's

I'm quite dissapointed there was no base set, I was hoping that the 1980's would have been more like the 1972 with a 150 card base set, I will most likely pass on a box, or pack orwhatever it is.

Looks like there is little to no Devils in this set. My interest in the set is gone.

1980's Devils....kind of an oxymoron statement.

Even The Great One didn't have much good to say about the 1980's Devils:

"Well, it's time they got their act together, folks. They're ruining the whole league. They had better stop running a Mickey Mouse organization and put somebody on ice."

Maybe they are featured in the Mickey Mouse Club insert in this product?? It is a one card set! :D

Seriously...this product looks awesome!

This looks to be the release worth cracking in my book.

Federko and Clark GU/Autos and that rivalry card with both of them sounds awesome.

Looking forward to the Brent Ashton auto I heard about as well.

Shanahan is a no-no for ITG right? I would love to see a GU of his in this set. I also would have loved to see something from Daneyko or a guy like Billington or Resch.

Man, oh man..... just don't know how to feel. I was looking forward to splitting on a case with my brother. Going from a case to one Pack potentially is a huge swing. I would have LOVED a base set to chase, possibly with parallels.

My love for ITG products is still strong, this just doesn't seem like a positive change in direction for some of us who LOVED ITG 1972. Regardless, I'll bust a pack, but a big sigh on the packing decision.

I was hoping for the same thing. I would love a 300+ card base set

The new configuration was based on collector emails.

They wanted insert numbers guaranteed which meant hand packing.

They wanted more "hits" and the no price increase, so something had to be left out and that was the base set. So more autos, more memo and both guaranteed.

Trying to create value based on collectors suggestions, can't please everyone.

With respect to the Devils, sorry it's the 80s.

your telling me that john maclean, kirk maclean, daneyko, muller, sundstrom, verbeek, burke, shanahan, a.broten, resch, bridgeman, mark johnson, greg adams, p. gagne, fetisov, Kasatonov and many more couldn't find they're way into there?

If I'm not mistaken those are some pretty good players there.

Certainly are, I wish that some of the players on that list would have agreed to be in the product.

They were asked but that is something we have no control over. They declined.

You can't please everyone, you're right, but I really think ITG missed the mar on this one.

A lot of collectors liked 1972 based on building the base set, inserts, jerseys, and auto's are a bonus to the box. If someone wants to open a box of all hits they buy Ultimate or Enshrined. I was rally looking forward to building this set and now that there is no set there's no sense buying any boxes. The cards look nice, but this may be the turning point, ITG may have hit "the peak".

This looks awesome. Great to see all the pic's used for the memorabilia cards. I'll definately be chasing a Hextall Complete jersey and some of the Lindbergh cards. It will be like Christmas is June:beer:

Interesting idea with the 9 hits per pack:giggity:

I like this idea better myself and will definitely try one or two. Base cards are just filling boxes in my basement. If the power ever goes out for 6 months I have a fuel supply, I like the hits without the base!

Seriously? The people who are complaining about the lack of a base set are surely not the ones who would have cracked the product anyway. The base doesn't matter to 80% of collectors anymore. Why waste money and up the cost of a product for cards people don't want and surely won't pay to buy? I much prefer the increased hits. If you want to build something, build the rookies set. Nice 45 card set of some of the best players of that decade

I would have much preferred a product that mirrored 1972 - that was before my time but I had a lot of fun reading the backs of the cards and looking through that base set. It was the first time I have cared about a base set in ages.

Was looking forward to the trip down memory lane with this product as well - oh well, I understand the reasoning, just won't be a product for me I guess. Looks pretty nice for the most part and there may be parts of this I chase down.

Haha, how about some mickey mouse insert set?

Totally understand the Devils shortage in this one.

On the other hand the silver medal in the 88 olympics (Team Finland) was something noone expected and a huge thing for our tiny country. Ofcourse no huge hobbylove for these kind of thing but would have been thrilled to see some country quad referring to that.

Cool product eventhough...

Gotta say, those checklists are through the roof impressive. Bunch of newbies to the Game-Used Memorabilia area.

Looking forward to seeing the autograph checklist.
