Hey folks,
Another installment of "The Mailbox Fills", here's my December 08 mail.
Set Fillers
December didn't bring me much in the way of set fillers, but I was able to add this 04/05 Pacific Bertuzzi Jersey and the 06/07 Flair Showcase Drury to my sets. Also, I completed my set of 08/09 Upper Deck by receiving all of the YGs, but we've all seen them dozens of times, so I'll spare you the scans.

For the Canucks collection, I was able to add the following

Alexandre Burrows
After the November 30th Bonsor show, when I was whining about having no players to collect, I decided to start chasing cards of Alexandre Burrows, as I was on the mistaken impression that no one else collected him, and I do like the way he plays.

Trevor Linden
A single easy Trevor Linden was added to the collection in December, as well as two very difficult pieces were added to the collection.

The 05/06 Powerplay Patch X/5
Victor (vic1632) was nice enough to let me have this one, it was the first that it the market, and Victor and me were able to work it out that neither of us went broke.
The 08/09 UD Black Double Patch x/5
This actually came from Victor in a part cash/trade deal that involved a UD Game Patch /15 and some other odds and ends going his way and I was able to pick this up from him.
Lastly, I had the pleasure of attending the December 17th Canuck game vs the Oilers when the Canucks retired Trevor Linden's jersey. The ceremony was extremely well done, and seeing some of Trevor's old teammates in attendance was a great treat.

This was given to me by Brett who flew in from Calgary for the game - now that's loyalty to the player. We had met up (as well as Victor vic1632) during the first intermission, and again on the second intermission and I went into the team store to by one of these banners, and they were sold out. On hearing that, Brett reached into his bag and pulled out one banner for Victor and I.
A very nice gesture, and Brett it was truly appreciated.
Following up on Brett's gesture, I want to take this time to thank the Bonsor crew as well as Brett and Victor for letting me rediscover what collecting is all about. The last few months I have been busy with other things, and the whole collecting thing seemed to be a bit of a burden, but just hanging out and chatting throughout the Nov 30th Bonsor show and meeting Brett (and Victor) at the Canucks game were two great experiences which really revitalized my enjoyment of the hobby.
It certainly has shown me again, that it's not the cards, but it's the people.
I know, I'm going to forget someone, but thanks truly to Brian, Brett, Derek, Gordon, Greg, Jeff, Jon, Jonathan, Matt, Randy, Stef, Victor for being able to shoot the breeze at the card shows and making me enjoy the hobby again. Thanks to the other boardies that I've never introduced myself too, hopefully, I'll do so this next show.
