Deceptive Beliveau auction

I seldom post things of this nature, but I felt this one was warranted.

Beliveau 2007 Parkhurst autograph

First off, these were signed in blue pen for the product. Second, the description is very vague. Toward the bottom is this tidbit:

The autograph card is part of a large collection of cards that I am currently selling. The collection includes many factory certified autograph, jersey and other high end cards, but this autograph is not certified at this time.

From this I infer that the card is an IP autograph, and that this auction is carefully constructed to be technically legal while obscuring the truth. Consider yourselves informed.

And knowing is half the battle! YO JOE!

that is an IP auto for sure, as the autos from that set got a white shade at the bottom of the cards

He does clearly state this specific card is not certified.

He does say that, but only after going on about his certified autos, including Beliveau... Most people stop reading after line 1 & I think he's banking on that happening

I think that's his boilerplate escape clause in the event someone's unhappy with his auction price.

You're 100% right, but you also proved quincy's point.


He does clearly put that into the description of his auction..... but late, and only after talking about certified autographs. Like I'm guessing you did with the OP in this thread (I assume so, becuase he mentioned this fact already) many people will read one line and that's it. This seller, I assume, is hoping to cash in on that.

I actually read what you posted and STILL flew over my head.

I think that's exactly what the seller wanted too. So yes, I'm in agreement with you, it's his out clause.

While the description might be classified as shady depending on how you look at it, anybody who is seriously considering buying that card (ie: the crazy Parkhurst set builders) will know immediately looking at the pic that the card is an IP auto, without even having to read the description.

Rob - If any thought went into targeting at all, it's not likely to have been aimed at the set builders. It's more the less informed opportunists, I think.

If that IP auto is real, I'd still buy that for $1.
