I have been out of collecting hockey cards for about 13 years until this season's crop of cards. Pulled a Crosby on my first pick of UD1 and the rest is history (as is a BIG chunk of my savings 
). Anyhow, lots has changed in the past decade or so, some for the better and some not I suppose. That's not what this thread is about though.
What often baffles me the most (and what this thread IS about) is when I am trying to catalogue or determine the value of a card and there are 2, 3, 4, 5 variations of the same card with the same card # and such. I sometimes have a helluva time determining what the freakin card is.
In some cases people have added information for the card (and/or set) on the Beckett OPG which usually helps me out, but as I said, all too often this information is not there (specially for the most recent releases) and I cannot figure out what's what.
I have lightly browsed the UD website but haven't really found anything there that is helpful. I am sure there must be a source of info on print runs/numbering (/10, /25, /50 etc) that corresponds to the labeling of a card as COPPER, SILVER, GOLD, PEWTER, MAROON, BLACK, RED, BLUE, YELLOW, BEIGE, GREEN... How many did I leave out? I can often determine the difference between black and red, or blue, or green, but sometimes what's pewter looks gold or copper or bronze and is silver always silver? Not to mention that a gold here is not a gold there, as with the silvers. And what's more rare, blue or red, or gold, maroon? Surely not beige?
So, if you can, I would love for someone to help me out here and hopefully point me to some source(s) of information on this, a guide or list if you would, so I can figure out what's what and when a /75 is a copper and a /100 is a gold and where in the hell maroon and beige fit in.
