I don't see where he exactly fits with the devils. Maybe as a 3rd line player, but not much more, with our first and second lines pretty solid without Zajac.

That's what the Pens said 2 years ago when they acquired him.

Rutherford continues to dump UFA salaries, Canes aren't going anywhere this season.

I would expect all or some of the remaining UFA's (Ruutu, Spacek, Allen, Gleason) to be moved by trade day. If all are moved it would give the Canes almost $30mil in cap space for next season.

I think Eric Staal could be moved by the Canes as well..His name has been mentioned several times here is Pittsburgh as a player possibly to come here.

I personally do not like Ponikorovsky's play. Such a big guy, but will not use his size. He also seems to be lazy when he plays. That said, they did not give up much to get him, so who knows..

Tom - Staal is an 8.25 million cap hit for three more seasons after this one. How on earth do the Pens think they can pull this off with Crosby and Malkin at 8.7 each? The Pens can't pawn off Martin fro Staal, so they'd have to give up quality in order for this to work.

Who's mentioned this? Is it someone who could be considered a reliable source? Or is it a blogger or someone on the Pens' boards?

Jordan Staal and others go to Carolina, that's really the only way I see.
