I don't like to brag about my eBay auctions and sales, but I was just wondering if I lowballed myself or just fell on a very needy collector...

So I pulled this beauty out of a pack of Dominion :

8isenoughpatch.jpg

Listed it on eBay at a pretty good BINOBO price, only to wake up this morning to see that someone did pull the trigger on the BIN price!

Once again, I'm absolutely not complaining, I am happy with the price it sold for, but I'm curious about what you guys are thinking.

Here's the auction : http://www.ebay.com/itm/22094544235...OX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1562.l2649#ht_1349wt_882

sick card!! with print run so low...and sick patches...i myself (not being greedy but just not knowing what it would be worth) would have put it at 999 bin obo

I would probably have listed it higher due to the rabid collectors of 5 of the 8 players + the nice patch pieces. Maybe like $900 Or Best Offer.

In the end - you sold it fast for what you asked for - can't look back.

I'd be happy with that sale. As long as you are happy, that is all that matters.

I think you did pretty well. You could have put a $999.99 BIN/ Best Offer on it, and recieved a slightly better offer, but I don't think too much above..

I would just not sell it to the buyer and relist it for triple. Tell him/her that you made a mistake. JUST KIDDING. I am of the same opinion as everyone else here. I probably would have started it higher, but if you got what you wanted out of it, you win.

you sold for a good price. could you have sold for better? you'll always ask yourself that anytime anyone hits your BIN regardless of where it's set at.

ie. #1 - set BIN low = could i have gotten more?
ie. #2 - set BIN 4x higher than previous record sale = geez, someone clicked on it! could i have done 5x?

I might have listed it higher as well Jon. But you made a 250$ profit on it... any day you make 250$ at the casino ain't a bad night... same rule applies here.

I feel like you did great! You set a great fair price, and someone else thought the same instead of nickel and diming you.

I think your price was fair and that's why you sold fast a lot of sellers on ebay are asking 2x to 3x the actual price of a card and they sit there for years untouched.

I think you got a higher price for that than I would have hoped for. I don't see the price going much higher for it.

When it comes to cards that are as nice as that one you did well.

Their is no way of saying before hand that the card will sell for $1,000. You set it at a price that you wanted and got it.

If you get what you want, you can not complain about it. It has happened to me where I list a card and someone hits the BIN within an hour.

Theres aways cards we've been searching for and would pay double its worth just to finally nap it. For example, Johan Backlund was a rookie in 09 10, has an SPGU 1/1 I need to complete the rainbow, 09 10 SPGU no name rookies 1/1s sell for around 30-60 bucks. I would nail a 99.99 BIN just to make sure someone else didn't before me even though I could get it for less.

I think you did well with that sale. I would be happy with it, may have gone a little low now. But a few years from now with all Panni's releases, how many similar cards will they release and flood the market with these patch booklets of these players. I say in 3-5 years that card will be selling around or under $300.

The guy that bought it shells out stupid money on Ovechkin BIN and BIN/BO listings. Could have got more as he's got one hell of a trigger finger. He apparently has a bottomless pit of cash to draw from too:

I have never beat him at an auction, and although I don't dish out the same kind of bids he does, you'd think I'd come out on top every once in awhile. I also rarely see him get outbid by anyone else either.

He's my favorite Ovechkin buyer, lol! I hit some rare 1 of 1 Ovechkin's in my last ITG Ultimate break and he paid full freight on everything I pulled. Something like 6 Ovechkin cards with some with other players on them and they sold shortly after being listed. Very nice guy who likes his Ovy cards. :D -Mike

Now that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the info Derek!

And thank you all for your inputs. It's pretty much what I expected to hear, but it's always interesting to hear opinions from fellow collectors :-)
