Hi everyone, I recently bought a sealed hobby box of 1999-00 Upper Deck Ovation. Nothing good came out and I assumed nothing of it as it's so hard to get any big hits in this product. After reading a thread on the Show and Tell Forum where people discussed the fact that many boxes on ebay are opened and repacked I went back to my boxes I bought recently and took a closer look:

Notice the pack, it says "nine packs plus one bonus pack" written in the circle that's very hard to read. Every pack has this.
The box says 20 packs. Are these retail packs in this box?

Anyone have any idea what this is about? I opened a lot of these packs back in the day from the local hobby shop and never remember seeing this image on the packs. It leads me to believe that these were similar to packs sold at Target, K-Mart etc.

wow. never though of that. Buy retails, put it in a hobby box and sell has hobby.
Maybe this is why retail is so expensive now. You cannot do that anymore.

Looks like it to me.

The odds on a retail should be different (harder) than the hobby (easier for some of the longer odd hits). Since UD had the practice of placing odds on the boxes and the packs, the hobby boxes odds should list most of the cards odds in the packs but a little more in depth. The Retail would list some of the inserts, much longer odds, plenty of omissions since some hits were hobby only. Check the back of the pack vs the bottom or back of the box. I believe that back then they were listing the odds for retail and hobby differently like they do now.

Hopefully you were able to get a full set.
