Did I get shilled?

He has 12 bid retractions within 6 months. I dont what to make of this info, I've never had to make any retractions but he has a lot more feedback than me and may just not be good at hitting the right keys.

That's what was shocking. I've dealt with Lee many times and have never had anything but great dealings with him. I just found it really odd when I saw this. Why in the world would a bidder do this? It makes no sense
 
maybe the guy has a backstrom with a white patch he trying to trade or something, bidding up to get more out of his end of the deal & got stuck. lots of peeps check the ebay prices...

Personally, I don't think you got shilled. He only put two bids in, and a typical shill is a large number of small $ bids. Plus, it looks like he bid with $.01 on the end, which is a strategy based on the premise that people like to bid up to round numbers ($250 and $275). The one cent would put him just ahead of those types of bids in that case. And as stated, the seller is seems to be very refutable. I think it was just a guy who put in a bid that he thought would be high enough, tried to go a little higher, and then gave up.

That's not the issue here. He bid a third time, which outbid me then quickly retracted it
 
I don't like the fact that he bid a 3rd time, retracted saying it was entered wrong, and then doesn't enter the 'correct' amount.

Not sure you can do much aside from reporting the incident to eBay, and hopefully they might do something with the other bidder. I doubt it though.

you didn't get shilled (implying the seller was involved in the wrongdoing) but you were screwed over. the other bidder is a moron and seems to have a history of bidding larger than he can handle. you should've had that card at $230. i wish ebay would cancel all of a bidder's bids if he retracts from an auction.

I have heard of people who will bid just for the sole purpose of driving someone elses bid up. Not even on one of their cards. Ridiculous.
 
Someone else did this to an auction of mine. They bid 12 times in $1 increments, then retracted the last bid saying they entered the wrong amount. Unless the guy has paulsey or a neurological condition, how did this happen the 12 times previously? It's my auction for sale and it was no one i knew. The card went for about what I thought. The only thing I could figure is they own the same card and they want to max value it on record so they can use this as a sell amount maybe?!? It was #/100 and in Beckett

100% shill, BUT, not by the seller. Lee is WAY to classy to do that. It doesn't have to be bid up by the seller to be be shilled...just someone who has no intention of winning the card.

However, it doesn't really matter, as you were the one who placed YOUR bid so early. I'll never understand why people do this (bid early), and complain that they won at their highest bid (no matter what happens). DON'T BID EARLY, and this will never happen to you again.

We all know Ebay will do nothing about this kind of behavior. It sucks that it happenend....and only you can make sure it doesn't happen again :)
 
If things are lowe enough, I'll bid early to get it on my list of items bid on. (My watch list gets full of all kind of junk that I'm curious about final sale price or if I want to research it) But I never bid my my highest first.
