A good while ago I picked this card up in a lot I was planning to break up and sell. Took a good look at it and thought it was pretty cool so I kept it

Up until that time I was pretty much just building base sets along with the rookies and picking up Jagr & Lemieux and other current Pens. After I acquired this card I started to chase vintage pieces. I've quit building base sets & chasing rookies. My collecting now primarily focuses on Lemieux, Plante, Sawchuk, Mosienko, vintage goalies and the occassional limited GU'd set. I just completed the ITG Ultimate Hero Triple set, picking up the Roy last night. I'll scan the set when the Roy gets here. Neat set, 8 cards limited to 20 copies and had 3 players I collect, Plante, Sawchuk, Lemieux. The other project I'm working on is 02-03 Parkhurst Vintage Teammates, those cards are also limited to 20 copies and about as scarce as hens teeth anymore. And it all started with 1 cool vintage card that caught my eye.

I always lament the loss of another base collector in this hobby, if you can afford that kind of change - good for you on finding something you like to pursue! (as that's been tough for me in this hobby as of late...)

Nice pieces!

snowrider- Thanks. I understand what you are saying but at the same time I'm really glad I got the set building out of my system before this years group of rookies hit. I have kids I need to educate! A good part of what I collected early on was financed by selling off the extensive Jagr collection and the other misc. Pens who were jettisoned. The other thing that has helped is that I hardly ever rip new wax anymore.

I picked up my first Ice Premiers Patch card of Jeff Hogan the week of release because i got it cheap ($26)... from then on i cant get enough of them and I now have about 15.

For 5 or 6 years I focused solely on Lecavalier. Then I thought to myself... "why the heck would I want 2000 Lecavalier cards in 20 years and no one else?" I would much rather have an extensive collection of the league spanning decades rather then 1 player.

So I picked this up:

Although I still collect Lecavalier, ever since I picked up that dual I've started picking up autos and sweet pieces of HOFers...
