I have never, in 23 years of collecting Luongo, pulled anything other than a base or low end insert of him? Not one jersey, patch, auto, or #ed card.

Anyone else with a weird hobby fact about themselves??

Chris

Depends if you include group breaks but I have only even pack pulled one GU card of Roy and no autos. Now in group breaks that is a different story.

Not sure I have any weird hobby facts about myself, but I do have a pretty weird hobby occurence...

I was easily one of the top 3 Spezza collectors back in the 2000s and like you with Luongo, NEVER pulled a Spezza of any consequence. After getting bored with the chase, I sold off my collection in 2009 to the other Spezza collectors and walked away from it.

Fast forward to 2017 at the Fall Expo and I decide to try a lone box of 2014 The Cup and pull this monster of a card:

2014-15 The Cup Jason Spezza NHL Shield 1/1

I didn't cheer, I didn't yell out...I just chuckled to myself. The ghosts of my old collection all said a collective "hello".

I’ve been collecting since 1996 and have never pulled a Gretzky auto jersey or patch. NEVER!:taz::taz::taz::taz::taz:|:|:taz::taz::|:|:|:|:| I have spent over 100k and no Gretzky ever.

This is great!! I feel like I would have had a similar reaction.

Awesome pull...

I was generally the same back when I did collect Arturs Irbe, but my first ever hobby box purchased at Wayne's Sports Cards back in 2007-ish got me Irbe's Pacific Heads-Up Purple #/30. One of my biggest player collection pulls.

Then after I stopped collecting Archie, I have pulled probably about a dozen of his autos/memorabilia, some as rare as #/10, from various products.

And with regards to my goalie museum, almost none of its pieces have ever come from "out of my pocket" or personal bank account, instead my prowess for buying and selling cards and solid speculation on what singles will sell for top dollars is what gets me my pieces for the museum. Some of my favorite memories are when people tell me "x card wouldn't sell for $20" and then the card proceeds to sell for $120+ and I can use that towards a new piece for the bigger collection!
