Displaying cards the cheap way part 2

my better half wanted to shuffle things in the basement, i had a huge display shelf i had made (it weighed a TON) and it wouldnt fit in the slot i had

so i ended up with this

and here was the fun part

i mounted ikea photo shelves upside down as i didnt want the large lip in front (could see as much of the cards). I then added 2 rows of adhesive backed felt tape to the shelf so the cards cant slide and if they do they stop before dropping as there is a gap in the tape row.

total cost $70 cad - 3 shelves around 15 cad each, 2 rolls of tape at 13

its a UDA (authentic autograph) item that I looked for for about 2 years, it is 12x18 or so.

had a bit of a scuff on an edge that is covered by the matt..... was $150 delivered. i would have bought 10 at that price



he was always the nemesis of my Jets 1.0, but how can you not respect the Great one.

Great display of cards / stuff - my favorites are the ORR Single Patch #/9, Horton Complete Package AND for the Gretzky 12 X 18 AU poster, sweet piece since I have the unframed version from a member as a work in progress!

What kind of frame are you using to display the cards underneath the blow up Gretzky?

It a shooter glass display case from michaels. Buy it with a coupon, was under 45 cad I believe. You can put a little strip of the felt I bought on the shelves to stop the cards from sliding

Here's what I did eons ago to display cards down in man cave/basement. I found some relatively cheap and small (thin) molding. Then I got half cut dowels and matched them together with some glue. Basically using the half dowel to create a lip so the cases wouldn't slide off the edge. Then I just installed them onto the drywall with some screws.

Other than the occasional user error/clumsiness, I've never had any issue with them falling off or anything! I swap out cards from time to time too. Closeup view so you can maybe see how I married the 2 pieces together. And of course I did paint them red just because. It was a cheap way to put together some "shelves" and also an easy way to customize them for the space I had.
