Do I have any grounds for complaint here?

So I purchased a couple old boxes of Classic Portraits (03-04). After carefully reading the box, I decided I would try my luck given that it claims there are autograph redemptions but I should still be in store for 2 rookies and 2 jerseys (on average, of course).

So I bust through box one, and get a rookie redemption. WTF. I read the back of the pack again "these packs may contain autograph redemption cards". Nothing about any other sort of redemption. I'm kind of miffed, given that I now seem to have one RC and one redemption, expired, for one of my box hits and NOT an autograph. :|

I bust the second box...BOTH my rookies are redemptions.:owned:

I wouldn't have busted the boxes had I realized that the rookies were in redemption form. I carefully read over the back of the box, and it doesn't state ANYWHERE that there are rookie redemptions.:| Just autos. :|

I personally feel I should be allowed to have my redemptions replaced with another product, given I was misguiding by their packaging.

Before I start trying to get anywhere with upper deck, I thought I'd check to see what you guys thought about the issue.

did you say get anywhere with Upper Deck...HAHAHAHAHAHA you'll be lucky if you can get through TO THEM nevermind get anywhere with them. I am pretty much guarantee your SOL on this one. I mean nothing is stopping you from trying..just keep in mind how much time you want to spend pursuing/fighting this one....GL

Well, the packaging didn't say the RC's WOULDN'T be redemptions either. Hey, at least you got to bust some wax, right?

How am I, who didn't collect in 03-04 supposed to know that rookies WERE redemptions?

I did what any customer would do...I read the packaging. It did implicitly state that "Packs may contain autograph redemption cards"

If there were going to be redemption rookies shouldn't it read:
"Packs may contain autograph and rookie redemption cards" ?

It was good to bust wax, although I can think of wax I would've busted instead if I realized I was going to get jilted on the RCs :/

If the RC's are AU's you are screwed they covered themselves. If not contact them and complain like heck. Good luck, hope you get something for your headache.

there were'nt any autograph redemptions in that product what so ever, my guess is they'll just tell you it was a mistake and should have read may contain rookie redemptions....but i'd give it a try, i could see them sending you something for there mistake.....

Give it a try, I have had a lot of luck with UD through email. They have been willing to work things out with me.

I think its up to the buyer to do their research on a product before they open it. UD can't be expected to compensate for 5 year old product.

UD doesn't owe you anything for the expired rookie redemptions, in my opinion. A quick post and some people could have told you that 03/04 Classic Portraits had rookie redemptions.

My response was more tongue in cheek than anything...UD won't/shouldn't do anything in this situation as the product is five years old. Trish hit this one on the head with her post above. A little research goes a long way...
