I notice that i uploaded scans of cards in top loaders, and IG seems to crop the images and cuts off the top and bottom of each scan - doesnt seem to affect posts from other users who followed me. Help!?

Try the button to zoom out the photo a little.

When uploading your own photos, Instagram can sometimes be tricky because their photos are more square-ish to feed in their feed.

I use app called Snapseed.. to crop my photos for IG
My son showed me how to use it. because i was complaining about the same issue.
