I stumbled upon someone else's Wallet Card on the internet recently and it got me thinking: How many collectors still carry around a wallet card?

I've been carrying one around roughly since 2007, when I first started collecting. Those times I remember very fondly, especially when I look back on it now.

Each time I've switched wallets, this little card was transfered into its new home and carried around with me everywhere I go. To be honest, I usually forget it's there half the time, especially now as I get older, but when I do, a lot of fun memories come flooding back.

When I was playing hockey, me and my dad would ride to games all the time. One day after a practice or a game, my dad told me that I "Play like Marc-Andre Fleury" due to my quickness, atheticism and flexibility in the net. To get that kind of compliment from my dad meant a lot to me at that time, and for him to mention one of my favourite goalies was pretty neat, too.

A day later I smushed this card in my wallet and it's been with me ever since. Ah, the memories.

So while it doesn't look like much, it probably is one of my favourite cards in my entire collection. My wallet card:

Do you have a wallet card? If so, what is it? Do you have any pictures (it doesn't have to be the card) or stories to go along with it? I'd love to hear some.

I'm hoping this thread can inspire some much needed feel good stories from the great members on here. With all the stuff floating around recently in this hobby, I think we could all use it.

Nice story, but I can't say as I have ever had a wallet card in my collecting days. I have various cards that have a story to them and many of which are for sure not in the best condition.

In the early 2000s, I carried around a 1999 Topps card of the late Derrick Thomas. For those unfamiliar, Thomas was a star NFL player in the 90s, and died at 33 due to a blood clot shortly after a car accident. It was pretty shocking at the time. Though I previously had no specific rooting interest in Thomas or the Kansas City Chiefs, I put the card in my wallet is a reminder that life is short and can unfortunate things can happen at any time, so enjoy it. It lasted quite a while in my wallet, but I was also at the stage of my life where I was forgetful with those things, so it got washed once or twice and eventually fell apart.

I have literally never heard of a wallet card, so no, I've never had one. However, I do have a work desk card. It's a 2001-02 BAP Memorabilia #183 Kenny Jonsson.

You may be asking yourself, why that card? Why Kenny Jonsson? Well, there is no real reason why. One day, for some reason I had it on me when I went to work. I put it on my desk, and there it stayed. It moved desks with me probably 3 or 4 times at this point.

I used to carry a common 79/80 opc around with me. I was working on the set and wanted a card to compare to to make sure I was buying the real deal

Wow, stuff like that really puts things into perspective, doesn't it? Thanks for sharing.

Never heard of anything like this?

But neat you have something that connects you to a great memory with your father!

Here's the story....I was gifted a few cards a number of years back and this gem of a card was part of the lot. I'll be honest, at the time I knew little of Oscar (and his exceptional 'fro) but couldn't help but smile when looking at it.

It was a part of my little work shelf shrine until I heard about the term "wallet card". I thought that Oscar would be the perfect piece of cardboard to place in the wallet.

Unfortunately, a couple years in and I accidentally washed my wallet and destroyed my precious Oscar.

I was devastated.....after all, a card that was gifted to me was now destroyed, but soon after I kind of snickered.....it's just a piece of cardboard - and with a little packing tape I got it to a point where I could toss it back in the wallet. Now....with an even better story.

I had started an Oscar Gamble pc and for years have yearned to replace the damaged gem. I found not one, but two to replace (or should I say "team along side") the original.

One for the pc and one for the wallet. So now I have TWO Oscar Gamble '76 Topps Traded, afro-bursting cards sitting in my wallet.

And an even BETTER story.

I can get my head around the idea, but haven’t received the inspiration for one yet.

I carried a 1986 Donruss Jose Canseco RC in my baseball bag for years. It was a low grade pickup back in the early 90s as part of a lot and I top loaded it and put it in one of the pockets. No clue where it is now.

I don't carry a wallet but almost wish I did so I could keep a cool card in it. Great stories!
