Hey guys I know its late but thought this would be a neat idea to kick around and a chance for people to show off some cards that they may not normally show.


What I want to see is if you think you own the best card of any given player, from Sandy McCarthy to Wayne Gretzky. It can be a 1/1, Patch, Auto or something amazing that maybe we have yet to really see. I just want to see if you think you have the best card that was ever made of that player!

Excellent Starting Point!

Shields are awesome but this card is personalized with his name on it; plus it gives the collector a sense of ownership (as in this stick was made just for Phaneuf, and now it in my collection. Where as shields that come from jerseys are a size 54 that can fit tons of players across the league).

Not to mention it comes from the most sought after set (the cup).

I've yet to see the Superlative II emblem card, could be better. If someone owns/knows who owns it I'd love to see that card, possibly even buy it!
 
The En Fuego 1/1, while tragically severely creased in transit, is Douglas Murray's only non-plate 1/1, and still his best card in my eyes.

Also, no picture at the moment, but I've got the 07/08 The Cup Dual Shields Cheechoo/Grier, which I would venture to say is Grier's top card out there.
 
Until I finally find that Hot Prospects Shield, I'll just have to make the argument for this guy:

Well, I'm sure it's been seen by everyone by now, but here's a card that I guess is the best I've ever seen of this player.

This is the one and only BGS 9.5 Phaneuf Cup RC in existence. There are no 9's, the closest grade is an 8.5.

Just my opinion, but I rank this rookie over the "1/1" subset cards in my personal PC.
There is only one rookie year with true "RC's". "1/1" labeled subset cards, although very nice, were in a set last year and will be out again next year. In the case of the Property of subset, which "1/1" is superior? The 05/06 "Property of"? or the 06/07, 07/08 or 08/09? Some would argue the 05/06 because its his rookie year, and I wouldnt dispute this, but I think you get my point. :)

I'd like to think that I own the best copies available for most of the Sakics in my collection. In some cases that's very subjective - a patch that I think is drop dead gorgeous may not provoke such lust in another collector.
 
I believe that my avatar is Kris Russell's best card. It's from the Cup, has another future superstar on the back of it (Eric Johnson). The only other pieces I could rank that high on the list would be his Hot Prospects Shield/Auto(Lee owns it :( ), Cup Black 1/1, or Cup Gold ARP /2. I'd still argue that the Cup dual shield is his best card though.
