Does anyone use COMC?

I was going to try and get some cards off of COMC, I noticed that it asks if you want to add a toploader for .20 cents. If you choose to forgo the toploader how would the card be shipped in just a penny sleeve or no sort of protection?
 
they will include a couple of toploaders for free.......


normally I get my cards shipped to me 100 at a time, and they'll have all cards in penny sleeves, with top loaders at the ends, all in a box, that's well secured so there's not shifting going on.
 
I buy almost all of my certified autographs from COMC and usually get them shipped between 20-70 cards at a time. Because they're mostly cheap cards, I just get the basic shipping with nothing added. Although the standard shipping can be slow, I've been nothing but pleased with their packaging. As another member mentioned, they'll included a couple toploaders for the end cards and all others will be in penny sleeves. Even with the basic option you won't have to worry about them getting damaged en route (well unless you use Canada Post, but that's a whole other thing...)
 
that combines purchases on the the site, and use of the mailbox.... and takes me months to fill out an order of 100. I think I had two orders of 100 cards shipped to me in 2015, I've had one shipped so far in 2016, and I'm about ready for another.....

If I buy a card on eBay, and then it sits in my COMC port for 4 months, I don't much care. I don't have to have it in hand right away..... so easy to build up the numbers.

So would you recommend buying in bulk from COMC? And so you can purchase a card and just wait until lets say you accumulate 100 cards then pay and have them shipped all together? Or how does that work?
 
Yes and no.

I think for stuff like low end RCs, parallels, and inserts.....if you have a need for bulk, it's a great place to get it. Some real deals to be had on mid end stuff if you look around, higher end?? I don't think the deals are that great.

Base cards...... the section is there, but sellers charge too much. I search for 1994-95 Score very regularly there (looking for inserts). I see base cards listed for $1.25, which is crazy in my opinion.

The beauty of the site is the combined ship. Buy from multiple sellers, and ship one source. If there's bulk cards you're looking for, COMC could be a good place to get them.

should mention..... I do 100 at a time because you get $5 of store credit for shipping 100 cards to yourself in a month.

Absolutely. Your cards can be stored there for any length of time you want and you can request shipment when ready. It's really the biggest advantage to be able to only pay shipping once! They used to have free shipping days 2-3 times a year as well, don't know if they will continue this with the increased postage rates.

Most of my shipments are 30-50 cards, but I've done the 100-count purchase once before. I started by building up autographs and parallels I needed for my Jets collection, then, when I decided to pursue the 15-16 UD Portraits insert (which is damn cheap on ComC with the vast majority coming in around 31 cents) it topped off quickly. The bonus of the 100-card purchase is they give you $5 credit, which essentially covers the cost of your next shipment.

On top of that, I've never had a truly poor experience with ComC. Yes, a couple packages were delayed, but that was because I took advantage of free ship programs and they get hella busy during those times, so it's expected. I think there was maybe once in the 5 or so years I've been using their service that I didn't get the card I ordered, but one card in the 500 or so I've purchased from ComC is pretty damn good.
 
I wanted to use COMC, but they made it way too complicated to buy a single card. I don't like the idea of having to pay for something before I even know if I got it.

You must be talking about depositing $ to your account balance so you can make an offer on a card to potentially have it declined?

I don't see it as a big issue. If your offer gets declined, you can get your $ back.

Comc is 100% worth it for sellers and buyers. They provide a great resource that most of us severely underestimate. Also lots of good deals on there for flippers.

This, and the site runners - reasonably - don't want an offer submitted unless the cash is there to back it.

I assume it still ties up money for a period of time. I understand why they do it, I just don't like it.
 
Thanks for all the input, I'll use it to knock out a couple minor PC needs for the time being as low-mid level stuff seems to be priced relatively accordingly
