suits up and plays in this first homestand. I just have a feeling he will be out there....maybe even against Ovechkin on Thursday!:dance::dance:
 
not likely.....but lets hope its sooner rather then later...I have tickets to the Pens vs Winnipeg game on the 17th!! that would be amazing to see him!
 
I have my doubts that he'd be cleared to play in a full-speed NHL game a mere 4 days from now when he hasn't even been cleared to practice with contact yet.
 
There is supposedly a date in November when the Pens will get a big chunk of $cap space. I dont look for Sid to be back until that cap space is obtained, so they can get another player or 2 at the trade deadline.

Not a chance. Sid hasn't taken a solid check in months. Until he passes that test, he's not lacing them up.

I doubt he sees the ice before November.
 
Yes, that is what is being reported, but even if he does get the clearance, I think November is still where it will be..
 
Interesting. Let's say the doctors clear him for contact tomorrow.

If you're the Penguins, do you put him in a game situation right away, or do you see how it goes in practice for a week or so?

He is definitely the difference between being a non-contender or a Stanley Cup Champion. Do you risk it and get him bac kin there right away (where he will be a target; no doubt about it), or bide your time a bit longer, by seeing how he takes light practice scrimmage contact? That would help him get his timing back, game condition senses, etc.
 
He has to get cleared for contact them has to get cleared again after that for games so he wont be rushed no matter what
 
i hope they take their time and don't rush him. fans would've rushed him onto the ice last year against Tampa in the playoffs and now for just the first home game? everyone's waited this long; might as well wait it out a little more and make sure he's had a full recovery rather than see him go down after the first check and sideline him for the rest of the season (or career).

Exactly.

There's a difference between being 'cleared for contact' and actually taking some contact.

Let's see how he fares once he takes a couple solid shots.
 
Have to agree make sure the first hiya he takes doesn't cause another injury or worse.these guys do want a life after hockey

I watched practice, and if he is not cleared for contact, well, some players did not get the memo including Sid himself. There were no big hits, but there was a lot of bumping. He did well with it from what I could see.

And before you go on your usual incorrect tirade about 'haters' and everything, it is a serious question.
 
I guess one of the questions I have is that I have not heard anything about helmet adjustments for Crosby. Have they changed his helmet and or mouth guard (or are they keeping that on the down-low). That is usually one of the key moves with serious concussions - attempting to minimize the impact of future hits.

I am personally still surprised if they play him before Thanksgiving. The face of the NHL as well as the Penguins - why even risk playing him until they are sure he can take an open ice hit?? I know fans want him & he wants to go - but bumps in practice and even full contact in practice - well... it just ain't the same.
