Kopitar might never fully catch. Zetty is a star and he's an original 6 member. As long as he's a wing he'll be collected

It's not who is a better player.

It is who is a better player to collect.

I also wanted to mention that I don't fully like threads where people ask to collect. You should collect someone that you want to collect for whatever reason it is, not because people tell you it is the best bang for your buck player. I collect Hanzal and couldn't be more happy with what I have of his, and how my collection is going. I didn't ask people if I should collect him, I came into his cards on my own. I think that is how someone should find the player they want to collect.

Hey, i totally understand where ur coming from. I just do this poll things because i myself am not sure who to pick. I could end up picking zetterberg and finding out this his lowest selling GU card is 15$. I just ask for the members for help because I am never quite satisifed with my decision. When i get a clear answer from 40-50 people it kind-off helps me feel more secure with my decision. Also I do these Polls because i usually cant do a Pc of one player for more than a month(ie My Datsyuk Collection). Now ur gunna say whats the difference between datsyuk and zetterberg lol. I dunno, i just wanna collect and have fun. I start Thinking about so many different players i get dizzy lol. i just ask for some re-assurence on my decisions. If u think i should collect Lundqvist which i am thinking about lol, Tell me what u think. If u dont like me choices above, tell me who else. Just dont tell me Crosby or Ovechkin or Malkin or Gretzky or Howe etc lol.

Thx Again

Mike

It really depends how extensive of a collection you want and what your budget is. If the sky's the limit then I'd say Zetty because he's a young established star in the league and UD will always pump out more products of him. Zetty is also a wing and part of a Stanley Cup Championship now, he's got quite a solid fan/collector base already going (compeition will be tough)

Kopitar is cheaper, but in a non hockey market, is not fully a star in the league yet, but is considerably cheaper than Zetty.

It's hard to say who you should collect without knowing your motivation. If you goal is to pick up a bunch of cards and flip them for more down the road, I would get a new hobby. 90%+ of all the new cards will go down in value over the years. If your goal is to collect a player you like, then why ask opinions? Most people collect their favorite player, favorite team or maybe a "hometown" kid. In the end, you should collect what YOU like, not what others reccomend. Mike

Well you see, that is not my goal. My goal is to collect as many #'d Cards Gu Autos and Patches From this 1 player. But the trick to this is that i want the player that i pick to have his value GO UP, NOT DOWN. So thats why i ask other for their opinion. Because i know hockey players that preform and have amazing talent, have there BV go up. Like Gretzky and Brodeur. Not saying these two will even be close, but i want to try and earn money off the cards i receive, if u understand where i am coming from.

Mike

Most cards go down in value no matter who the player, so I suggest you go to plan B. I can't see either Zetterberg or Kopitar Autos or GU cards going up in value. Perhaps their true RC, but that's about it...

Strictly from a value sense, there are only a handful of players that have seen their cards go up. If you want to invest, get a mutual fund. I'm not being glib, it's just that even Gretzky autos are going down in value. If Gretzky cards go down in value, who do we look to for an up arrow long-term?

Kopitar and Zetterberg are both poor investments, in my opinion, for the simple fact that they are European. Once they retire or simply move back to Europe, their cards will likely crash.

It's the reason Crosby's cards continue to soar, and Ovechkin, although arguably the better player right now, is second fiddle.

i understand what your saying. Would you/or anybody have other ideas of players that would be good to collect. I just want to collect lol. NOT CROSBY NOT BRODEUR NOT OVECHKIN. I AM NOT DONALD TRUMP lol.

Mike

Most of the collectors collect a certain player because they are a fan and really don't care about the long-term value. Personally, I don't care what a Messier or Leetch card is gonna sell for 10 years from now because I ain't gonna sell mine.:D If it's about the cards holding value, collect True RC's only and pick a player or two you feel is undervalued today. Mike

I guess i really confused you guys lol. My Major goal is to collect someone that i can enjoy(which means anyone). But the problem is that i lose interest in one player and gain it in another. So if i were to collect Kopitar For example, i would want to have some people out there that would take some or most of his cards if i lose interest. Thats the way i kinda base who i want to collect. RIGHT NOW TO BE DEAD DEAD DEAD HONEST I LIKE HENRIK LUNDQVIST LOL. But i am a die hard leaf fan. And i know they are going now where fast lol. I collect toskala, but that just a choice. I would never trade his cards away unless he left the leafs and went to like montreal or ottawa lol. ANYWAY, srry to bug u all,

Mike

My advice would be to collect someone you like, and never think about value again. I have (estimating) $10 000+ into my Nick and Jesse Schultz collections, and I know for a fact that they will never be worth anything even remotely close to that to anyone else...ever.

If you really want some investment advice, though...Mike Richards. He is this generation's Joe Sakic/Steve Yzerman in the making (with a little less scoring touch), and even though his cards are not cheap, I believe he is bound for the Hall of Fame, and someday they will be coveted by a lot more people than even now. I collect him, so I run the risk of creating more competition by saying this, but he would be my choice for "investment" potential, if any exists in this hobby.
