Downie should get at LEAST 10 for that. That rule is pretty strict, and then he may be considered a repeat offender.

How does the rule apply when it is a stoppage in play, one player goes to the bench, and he comes on to replace him? He did not jump onto the ice while everyone else was engaged to join an altercation. Not defending him, but he may not be subject to the automatic 10 games, no?

Stoppage in play or whatever but basing that as a technicality would allow the entire team to jump on the ice, not just Downie. if he's not counted on the ice at the time of goal simple fact is he jumped on afterwards.

Sucks to see Downie trashed on so much. He has cleaned up his act a lot more than most people give him credit for. Every team has somebody on it who has done something worse than Downie in the past year. He stuck up for his team when he felt they were disrespected. Job well done!

Yeah all anyone can remember is the hit he put on Mcammond during the preseason in his rookie year. Thats it. Pretty pathetic they have missed him actually become a pretty damn good hockey player in the past few years.

There are a lot of players that are worse than Downie. Danny Briere, Patrick Kaleta, Patrick Kane, PK Subban, Milan Lucic, that's just off hand. All a bunch of douchebag punks.

now that list is funny. are we playing which 2 dont belong there? I can kinda see saying Kane is a douche for his off ice run in with the cabbie, but that was 1 time. On ice he hasn't done anything to be included with Kaleta, Lucic, or subban. plus your list is missing Avery, Cooke, and Tootoo
