DRYDEN Autographs....

OK just a curious observation.
There's a sort of awe regarding a KEN DRYDEN autograph issued in a card,BUT a collector has a DRYDEN autograph on index or postcard.
I undersatand the it's an offical card release and all that jazzz,BUT why the differance in collectors' mindset to not touch a releiable DRYDEN autograph(if it comes froma reliable source?).
It's almost like a light switch of interest...on a card everyone seeks but in other form,no one wants to touch it.Differant type of collecting but whatever happened to I need an autograph so I'll settle for an index card or other medium?

well. that's how card collectors are like. this sort of thing happens with all players.

fortunately, if you are an autograph collector, and you could settle for something for a discounted price, why not? ; )

i think a part of it is many of us are hockey card collectors...not index or other size. also, home made cards while they are usually f a n t a s t i c..they are home made,and dont have the same mass appeal as licenced (sp?) card

I have a beauty Dryden autograph on one of his boarding passes when I worked for American Airlines. It's pretty cool for framing because it has both his auto, and his name, the date, and even what seat he was sitting in...LOL

i think if Ken had been signing for UD and itg all these years they wouldnt hold Nearly the value or interest as there getting today. its the Allure that he actually hates the card hobby i think that drives the rare "official" copies prices up.

funny thing is he signs for ppl all day long, if you seem him down on sheppard ave at his office he will sign whatever you throw at him. and he's always on political tours at old age homes etc etc in his riding and will sign anything and everything.

my point is, its pretty crazy that these "cut" autos go for mad prices when you, me , or any joe shmoe can go find him and aquire one. The guys still alive for god sakes!

I have an original copy of his book, The Game, auto'ed to my aunt from back in '82 I think. She was a big Habs fan and went to a pile of games back in the day.
