E-check question...please help if you can.

I sold both my Kessel Letter Marks to quitesomething on ebay after he made a decent offer to get both of them from me. He paid me by e-check on the 15th of May. I can't stand e-checks but I patiently have been waiting almost 2 weeks for it to clear since the clearing date said the 27th of May.:rolleyes: So I check my account this morning and still nothing! I even had a transaction through HI that was an e-check that was supposed to clear today go through before his.

My question is does this mean that he doesn't have the money in his account? Should I be worried that this transaction has gone south? He has a solid rating and everyone else has left feedback to the effect that he pays rather quickly so I am wondering why mine hasn't?

Its not a HUGE sale but it would be nice to know if that $100 will come through or not.

I have only ever had 1 E-check that didn't go through. E-checks are a pain in general, I've had some clear in less then a week, others that took almost 3 weeks.

You should have been given an expected clearing date from Paypal. Go into the transaction details. International checks take much longer than same country ones. You should get an e-mail by the end of the clearing day telling you whether the funds cleared or were denied.

Chris the expected clearing date was yesterday the 27th. Maybe I'm jumping the gun but the funny thing is I had another e-check that was expected to clear today the 28th and that one already went through but yesterdays hasn't.

I ended up waiting until the day after the expected clearing day for my echeck to clear. Don't like it myself, but if the buyer starts moaning about shipping time - I'll have to remind him of the 5 days it took the payment to clear...

Good point but with ebay's new wonderful feedback system I don't know if I would do that anymore.

Thanks for all the help. I sent him an email although I doubt it will help since he never responded in the first place. I will wait until the end of the day to see what happens.
 
agree-sometimes the email notification takes longer to get,but it will show up in the tranaction log first.ive never had an issue with them in the past except that it could take 3 weeks for one to clear internationally, like chris stated.
 
I have the samething at the moment, I've noticed that they typically clear the next business day around noon. So it should clear around 12 today

Funny I just got the email notification for the one expected to clear today the 28th from wolfie here on HI but it was in my paypal account early this morning.
Guess paypal can't get their ducks in a row considering the one I am worried about should have cleared 1st.

I am going to be shipping to him and well secured so hopefully he will be happy with the purchase.
 
Ebay message forums have been discussing this over the last week or so. It seems to be a pretty wide spread problem ( I have 2 pending since May 11 as well ) A Paypal representative acknowledged the problem on the thread being a glitch on their end but offered no advice or timeline on fixing the problem other then being patient.
Not much help but at least you know you are not alone and Paypal is addressing the issue for whatever that is worth
 
I'm in the same boat waiting for one to clear since the 15th. I figure the buyer hasn't rec'd his notice that it cleared either so wasn't communicating with them, but think maybe I'll drop them a note asking if they have heard anything.

First off, when you get the e-check in your account it says EXPECTED clearing date which doesn't mean it will necessarily clear that EXACT day. It's an approximation. It will probably clear in the next day or 2. I've never had issues with e-checks, myself
