2017 is only a couple of weeks old and I think I'm on pace for a quality year as far as PC pickups go. 2016 was pretty slow hobby wise and I'm hoping to catch up this year.
These three auto patches came in over the past week and I've got three more waiting in UD's redemption pipeline that I CAN'T WAIT to see.
First up is a John Tavares Limited Logos from the new 2015-16 The Cup:
I've always been a Tavares fan and had been meaning to find a nice auto patch for years. These new Limited Logos are my favourite design to date and I decided the time was now! Nice logo patch on this one.
Next up are two Nathan MacKinnon additions. My main hobby goal for this year is to expand my MacKinnon "stash" into an actual collection, focusing on hard-signed autos and higher end cards. His prices are way down now compared to his first couple of seasons so it's a much better time to collect him, and with the event-worn rookie stuff in the past I can pick up nice game-worn stuff going forward.
For starters is a nice one from 2015-16 UD Premier, numbered 26/99:
Premier is a really nice product that reminds me of the great Panini Prime releases. I had these auto patches on my radar for a while but most of the copies I saw had number patches on them, a lot of them very plain, and some pretty sloppy autos. I'm a logo guy so I held out for a copy with an emblem piece and a clean auto. This copy is only the second one I've seen with a logo patch and the only one with three-colors, the auto is crisp and clean, and for a purchase price of around $35 it was an absolute no-brainer.
Last but not least my lowest numbered MacKinnon to date:
2014-15 The Cup Base Auto Patch 03/10 :dance:
Emblem patch (tiny hint of three color), clean auto, and low numbered. Need I say more?
Mack was strangely absent from 2014-15 The Cup, and it turned out that his autos were late coming in and rather than seed him as a redemption they held these over for the 2015-16 release as an "update" card. Therefor these 2014-15 cards were inserted in 2015-16 as live cards. Sadly, his 2015-16 Cup cards were not ready and thankfully were inserted as redemptions this time instead of being quietly held over for an entire year again.
I have a few redemptions in for Mack Limited Logos cards so hopefully the wait won't be too long. With the 2015-16 design being my favourite and other Avalanche players having such nice patches in their Limited Logos this year I'm really looking forward to getting those in. I'm hopeful at least one of them (hopefully all of them) will be an above average patch that will look really nice in my growing MacKinnon PC
