eBay 2008 fees

Gang,

I know many of you are painfully aware of the eBay feedback changes, and fee increases beginning soon, but one of the things that concerns me, and other eBay stores sellers using the board, is the $1.00 minimum item for Fixed Value and Store Items.

Roughly 75% of my store inventory is under $1.00 - just due to the volume of set-building singles I have.

For those of us with eBay stores, how do you expect to be affected?

Yeah I was going to do team lots - I've not done a lot of base myself, but was going to go the "lot" route soon.

I am so disappointed at this new "rule".....I don't sell a lot of base except the higher end guys (Crosby, Ovy, Gretz, etc), but I do put all of my unwanted inserts/parallels/low-end RC's up for super cheap prices...

I'd say that at least 80% of my store is at $0.99 or below....over the next two weeks I will be putting everything on clearance (50% off) trying to get rid of it before the new rules go into effect...I have over 3000 items in my store and don't feel like editing every single item....anything that is left, I am debating what to do with.....some have suggested putting at a $1.00 or best offer and others have suggested the team lots....I am afraid that most will think that I am out of my mind asking $1 obo for a Steve Rucchin Gold Medallion parallel...LOL.....

I think I could almost deal with all of the other changes...I just don't understand how this has any bearing on anything...it is all still the same price to list in the store!

I would tend to think lots fail compared against single cards. Many times I've seen individual cards outsell the set they came from.

I'm tending towards just upping the pricing on base cards to $1.00, and offering free shipping.

Understood. I'd like to do a blowout sale too before I up everything to a dollar for a lame-o base card.

Granted, you're in the US, so doing $1 on a card with free shipping may still net you 25 cents or so when it's all said and done...north of the border, however, the stamps alone to send a #000 bubble mailer is $1.12 - let alone the other supplies, etc.

Hello competitive advantage!

Actually, I've yet to be able to sell with a mailer for under $1 anywhere. My hope with free shipping would be that the losses from those buying one card would be made up for by those buying 10.

I'm still trying to figure out a best solution.....

What about something like $1 shipping for the first couple cards (free combined shipping,) and then just offering free shipping after they buy 5 or 10 base cards?

I came up with that when talking to my wife just a few minutes ago. Actually, the price we came up with was $0.49 and free combined. I have to go through the different shipping rules on eBay and see what makes sense.

The thoughts are totally appreciated.
