Hi,

I am thinking of putting the triple jersey of yzerman sakic and gretzky on ebay soon and I need some advice.
I am of course going to require insurance for a bidders in the US as there is no problem doing so. However I would like to at least require tracking and perhaps get a signature for those not in the US. The reason being is to advoid a bogus paypal dispute. I would have little proiblem with a legit one.

I know if I require insurance for international they would have hefty fines especially since the card may sell in the 300.00 range. Will this "scare" a lot of them off

Is requiring insurance the wrong way to go on international trasactions?

also How bad would US only hurt my sale?

INTL might be a bit scared off, but if you expressely state the cost and so0meone wants the card bad enough, they'll bid no matter where theyre from.

As long as you don't gouge and charge $30 for intl insured shipping then you should be fine. Most people who are bidding on such a big ticket item are going to expect to have to pay insurance. If you required Insurance on a $5 item then you'd lose a lot of bidders but on a $300 item you'll have no problems.

For a big ticket item like that, I would gladly pay the insurance/tracking, as long as it was close to the actual cost.

What the government of the buyer's country does is not your concern. Require insurance at the buyer's expense.

the shipping and insurance would cost too much for 5.00 items...also would not be hurt if a buyer claimed they didn't get a 5.00 item
I would not charge near that amount unless they wanted global priority with insurance(which cost me 22.00 last time w/o insurance)...would probably be 25.50 insured for 300.00..otherwise it should cost close to 12.00

When it comes down to it this is the perfect answer....You are right as most that can spend the money on this card would not worry about the taxes.
As far as ebay it is probably going to be moot...I may have a buyer here who's name I shall not reveal at this time....but it will be insured.

thanks for the advice
