Recently I have purchased a CUP card on ebay for a little over $250, however, I was shocked to see that the card was jammed inside a 130 top loader (instead of a 180 top loader) when it arrived. It took me some time to safely pull out the card and put it in a one touch. Obviously, I'm not too happy the way the seller packed the card.

I messaged the seller right away and here is the response:

"Sorry for that. Unfortunately the 180's have been back order for weeks so I did my best with what I had."

The card seems to be okay... but does that warrant a neutral feedback? What do you guys think?

No, in no way does it warrant anything other than a positive. The seller was prompt, courteous and honest in his response, and the card arrived in one piece.

Card undamaged? Received in timely fashion? Reasonable shipping charge? Seller communicated? If you answer "yes" to all four of these I think a positive feedback is in order.

But with a high price card, he could have easily ruined the card by fitting inside an improper toploader.

By all means, I will leave him positive feedback, I was just not happy to see the card packed like that.

Then just make mention of that in the comment section.

Positive with a note of the card arriving undamaged, but in too small a toploader.

card could've been damaged any number of ways:

-PWE
-re-used bubble mailer
-careless postal worker
-packaging by seller
-act of god
-etc...

while there are preferred shipping methods (ie. the HI standard), all that matters is that you receive the card in perfect condition. you won the auction for the card, not the shipping. while obviously not the best experience, luckily for the seller, he delivered as promised.

I know... but if you guys want to feel my pain, try to put your Nuge Cup card inside a soft sleeve and jam it inside a 130 top loader with the top taped.

I guess I will just move on then.

Thanks guys!

I think you have to leave a positive as long as the card is as specified in the auction, that doesn't make the sellers shabby shipping practice right though. I recently got a 75 pt RNH in a 130 pt one touch, so basically the card rattled around fairly loosely in the one touch across the country, fortunately the card was undamaged and I left the trader positive feedback as well as pm'd him some constructive criticism.

But I think if you're selling $250 cards you should have appropriate $0.20 top loaders on hand for shipping.

can definitely see where the OP is coming from, bought a Kasparaitis Titanium Patch awhile back that came in a super tight top loader that i ended up having to rip apart in order to get to the card. i was very surprised that no damage came to the card. left positive feedback to the seller, but I can see where it can get irritating.

also consider the OP's card was $250 from the Cup while I paid a hefty $6 w/shipping for mine lol. I agree with everyone else though, positive feedback as long as the card was received in good condition

I had the exact same thing happen with a card a few weeks back. It was jammed in a toploader that was clearly too small.

It took me about 5 minutes to get the card out. After very close inspection, I felt that the card was undamaged. I tried to communicate with the seller about this issue but got no response.

I was about to give him a neutral, but went with a positive with low ratings on communication. I made note in the comments that too small a toploader was used.

At the end of the day I got my card in one piece.

Now if it were a 1/1.....I might have been a little more forceful in getting a response. This card was a $10 jersey card.

coulda - shoulda - woulda

The facts are that the card arrived undamaged and while it was not exactly like you had wanted it to be sent - the seller completed all of his obligations to you - the buyer.

Nothing but positives should be left.

"Sorry for that. Unfortunately the 180's have been back order for weeks so I did my best with what I had."

sandwiching the card between two regular toploaders or two decoys (in a team bag) would have been better than the option he chose. If the card is 100% fine, I wouldn't leave negative/neutral FB, I just wouldn't bother leaving FB at all.

I made a simlar thread about how I received a couple of my high end patches and they all came in safe and sound, so I gave them a positive rating. Nothing you can really do since your card wasn't damaged but you would think people would take the extra time to ship high end stuff more carefully.

Since the card arrived safely, I think you have to give him a positive but I would comment how he shipped poorly.

Seller made no bones about what happened, and what he tried to do. While I understand your frustration, no sense castigating him over potentials that didn't materialize.

I agree with the rest - only a positive is warranted. Of course, DSR ratings and comments are available to express your frustration.

I agree with you with being upset though. I would rather receive a card in a PWE with sufficient cardboard/decoys/top loaders than have a card jammed into a too small top loader in a bubble mailer.

I agree with the everyone else, although there was a possibility of damage, you were lucky. Had there been damage, of course, expect a refund, but if you got the card, undamaged in a reasonable amount of time, and the seller took the time to reply, then you got great service, even considering his risky shipping. Positive all the way.
