Hey all was wondering if I could get some input on a ebay situation...

Basically five days ago an item of mine sold on auction, however the buyer fails to pay me and I clearly state in the item description "If not paid within 3 days item will be relisted". Now here we are 5 days later and he sends me the payment yet I have other people interested in the card. Any advice?

I predict fewer headaches if you just go ahead & send it to the guy that paid. Sucks when people do that - I put 7 days on my auctions & people still take 10-15 days now & then.

did you file a NPB on the guy? did you already relist? are there already bidders?

if none of the above, then he won the auction, he paid. you ship his package. not much more to it.

Oh well I guess I will just ship it out. But for next time would you file a NPB and just relist right away or what? I don't want a negative coming my way either cause I clearly state that I will relist.

You can state anything you want however it doesn't fit in with ebay and/or paypals policy and is basically wasted keystrokes. As for a NPB it's 4 days before you can even file and another 4 before you can close it. Items shouldn't be relisted until buyer has a chance to respond and/or make payment. People need to chill the hell out - things in life take people away for periods of time. Three days isn't a reasonable expectation at all.

Totally agree. Just because you put it in an auction doesn't make it enforceable. You agree to EBay rules and can't change them unilaterally.

I give people seven days. Three days is just setting yourself up for trouble (and one less than eBay expects AND pretty unreasonable). You might also get people scoffing at your auctions with a rule like that.

This is all lost on me - I can't even comprehend waiting even two days before I pay. I pay within a couple of hours of getting the invoice (the most I may wait is overnight if I didn't get the invoice before I went to bed).

Just curious. How many people actually wait a few days before they pay?

As to the original situation, he did end up paying, in what appears to be a reasonable timeframe, so if it were me, I'd just save the headache and ship him the card, as soon as CP gets back to work, that is.

Me...

I just won two cards and am waiting almost 4 days to pay (seller says within 8) because he has a third card I want. I am waiting to pay all at once for the combined shipping rate, as it will save me over $15 in the end

I should have mentioned this...I try and pay at the close of the auction. Not everyone has the ability to do that. They may have to wait until pay day, which may not coincide with the end date of the auction. Seven days gives everyone the ability to pay when they are able to.
