eBay just paid a buyer back on my behalf and did not find me at fault! Is this bizarro world?!

In my 18 years on eBay I have had very, very few issues, but never have I had this outcome.
eBay paid back the buyer's $15 bucks out of their own money, plus let him keep the cards, AND didn't give me a strike?!
I'm not complaining at all, but is this common? I've never heard of it...

Gang scan issue. 7-8 Canvas cards in one scan, auction title for the Ullmark, description for the Ullmark only, no returns accepted, reasonable opening bid of 11.99.
Wanted to return it because he thought he was getting all of the cards.

I had that happen several times when I first started selling on eBay. Now I scan each card individually to not have any confusion for the buyer.

Ditto....Had 7 cards in Scan...Buyer paid for 6 Parallel Cards in Lot As Described...Thought he was getting Auto Card Plus Others ...Ebay Paid 9.50 and closed the case

I never had that problem, only ever heard about it. I don't have time to scan each individual card, and there is no confusion with basic reading skills. How do you bid without reading a title? And, there is an Ask the Seller function, so I'll continue to gang scan.

I have, however, answered the question "is this auction for all of the cards?" a number of times. As well, if scans of an individual card are requested, I always honour them.

Good communication is key, as per usual.

The easy solution is to crop the photo when you list the card. When I list cards, I’ll scan 6 at a time. I crop the photo using the extremely easy tool that is given by eBay. Takes next to no time. 1 scan - 6 listings with “individual” photos. There’s really no reason not to do this. Saves a lot of hassle.

I think it was in 2004, there was one instance where a seller was trying to scam me and I reported them to Safe Harbor. Somehow for whatever reason, Ebay had resolved the issue by banning both the seller and myself. I was able to get my Ebay account unlocked some years later by calling the customer service and talking to a person.
