Now I've been buying and selling for several years now on ebay. Not a powerseller or anything just dink and dunk here and there to make some extra card money. I get an e-mail from ebay saying my auction was pulled because it said in my auction that "I accept cash" as a form of payment?!?!?!
Now I have in the last 5 years NEVER recieved cash as a payment but figured I'd leave it as an option for someone. Just a bummer as the auction had already been up for 4 days!!!

Yeah. eBay's gettin' sticky about that. They consider that "soliciting for cash" meaning more possibility of scams, yada yada yada. They're trying to force people into signing up for PayPal, under the pretense that it provides a "safer" transaction. The only one that it's safer for is eBay, but hey, who are we to complain? I usually just put "Other Forms of Payment", people seem to get the idea...

Trev - they started that up about a year ago - I had 100 auctions pulled one night!!!
They just want to continue to funnel things to Paypal so they can nab another 3.5%!!!!!

they pulled one of mine a couple days ago also, for the
same reason. funny though, they let the other 15 auctions
run.

I started putting the cash with a couple xx after it;
cashxx. maybe their scanner won't spot it.

we'll see.....

They pick and choose,,,

CJKUEHN they will notice it...

I have personally listed over 20,000 items over the past few years and just recently they are cracking down...

I decided to change "I will accept cash" to "I will accept ... and US/CND currency" and even with the word Currency they have still removed a few items!

It's largely a cash grab on their part, but it's also compliance with US law - you cannot solicit people to send cash in the mail.

People usually email to ask, and I tell them sure - but at their own risk. I never post the question or the response.

had a bunch of mine removed for the same thing, except i posted 100 auctions in one night and had 40 removed but the other 60 stayed:eek:

so as previously mentioned i just say i accept various payments and to email me w/any questions. however i may start to dabble in gold bullion and string myself:D

I just went and took the word "cash" out of my listing......I changed it too "for other forms of payment please email me 1st"

If you send invoices, you can state it in there, but I do it with a caveat as Q says.

It's funny, but if they had enforced this rule from the time ebay was started, it likely wouldn't be anywhere near as popular or used as it is today. They waited until we were all hooked then stole the bait back. :)

I posted 8 or so auctions last month and had all of them removed because I said "...or cash at your own risk.". I guess I understand, it was the time relisting them that got my goat.

I have been telling certain members here that it's a no-no to mention the word accepting cash as a payment option.I once had a buyer send me cash without knowing as I thought he was sending me a check. I sent him back the cash & told him to write me a check instead & I never got any feedback from him, wonder why ;)
