EBay Question - Bids After Time Expired?

Hi everyone,

I was bidding on an item last night, and was winning as the time remaining ticked to zero, and then read "ended".

To my surprise, the page refreshed and the winning bid was in fact more than double what I believed I had "won" the item for.

I'm old school, and like to be in the moment when auctions end, so I don't believe in "sniping" programs.

Has this happened to anyone else?

It's all of the snipes coming in at the same time, usually around 3s out. Ebay has to sort them out and then display the winning bid.

I actually had an auction over the weekend that expired and flashed to the green "You won!" page, only to have it go to the gray "You didn't win this item" page upon refreshing. That was a surprise.

Yup, happens all the time with the snipe programs out there.
