ebay scammer or not please keep eye out for these cards



this is the reason why i might start making quebec buyers on ebay pay for tracked shipping .this guy has good feedback but hard to say with ebay nowdays could be a new account or something . i shipped to sherbrooke ,quebec may 19 he started a claim shortley after saying he never recieved his cards and got his money back through paypal ,he then tells me he is not a scammer that when he recieves his cards he will reimburse me my money through paypal .but its hard to say because the only problems i have had mainly come from quebec. here are the cards if you all can keep an eye out for them i would greatley appreciate it

This could turn into an ugly French-English war.

I am in Quebec and never have issues sending or receiving stuff in Province. I've had issues elsewhere. Ontario, USand many other areas. It happens sometimes. No one is immune to it. But to say you will start charging only Quebecers for tracked shipping is ludicrous
 
To be fair, you are actually in an extention of Ottawa. :D

Topic at hand. If a seller wants to start instisting Quebec buyers pay for tracking, it is no different than US sellers instisting on tracking to Canadian buyers.

Experience: I have never had a problem with people in Quebec, but have heard enough horror stories from friends that I do suspect something fishy goes on with a lot of buyers/sellers there.
 
i am just asking for help if anyone happens to come across these cards , i have nothing against quebec and i have some good customers from there but i also only had claims from buyers there too. whats wrong with tracked shipping only the scammers will be upset with that ,i have to do something about it when i am losing more money than i am making. the customers i dealt with before will be fine cuz i know i can trust them just the newbies that i do not know will be charged tracking ok hope i cleared it up . i know theres good and bad all over the world i just never had a problem yet from other places

No, your honest ebayers will be upset because they have to pay extra for shipping. You will have less bidders and ultimately lower final prices for your auctions. You may want to consider a dollar value limit before tracking is required.
 
i say protect yourself however you see fit. yes there are good and bad people everywhere but if you see a trend that's happening to you, then by all means, do what you have to do. you can weigh everyone's opinion on the matter but at the end of the day, it's your money that's being taken out of your pocket.

if a seller told me he was charging for tracked shipping because he got burned, i'd understand and wouldn't take it personally. whether i choose to buy from you or you wind up with lower prices is another matter entirely. even then, if you only get 75% of the going rate its still better than 100% of nothing.
 
I dont know Dave personally, dealt with him a few times (sent gift payment and received my cards no problem) so if says he didnt receives is 7 FW rc`s that probably dont reach 30$ in sales i would believe him.

I can say from my experience that I have had 34 claims from Quebec in the last year or so. 1 from USA, and that buyer got his cards after I refunded him, and he did the right thing and sent the money back to me.
How is it that I have 1700 transactions in a year, and only get claims from Quebec? I must say that I have lots of successful transactions in Quebec, and I don't hate Quebec or french people or anyone really. But the numbers don't lie. I have discussed the issue with many sellers, both on the phone and via email. A lot of them notice the same type of trends. I had a person in Quebec tell me on SCF that he doesn't trust people in Quebec and he knows of people that brag about scamming english speaking Canadians simply because they can! I started requiring Quebec residents pay for tracking and sig. confirmation on any transaction $20 or more. With that, I tell anyone I have dealt with successfully in Quebec that they don't need to pay for that type of shipping. I've onlly had 1 claim since I adopted this policy, and coincedently I caught the person selling the same serial numbered cards he supposedly didn't receive from me and got a refund for.
I think if you got ripped off so many times you would take steps to stop it, and if you didn't, well my friend, that is ludicrous!

The honest people don't have to bid on, or buy the items. If the policy is clearly stated in the auction and they know about it ahead of time and still choose to buy they have no reason to be upset.
 
A pile of no name FW RC's.... Im not so sure he's a scammer. I've had full refund sometime and paid again when the cards came from god knows where USPS had send them first...

How in the name of heck did the United States Postal Service get slammed in this thread - when the cards were sent from Ontario to Quebec???

The cards I got scammed on were enshrined base cards, so nothing is immune. If they think they can make a few bucks they will. Oh, and Jeremy Morin isn't a no name FW RC!

well if my cards were sent by them to a wrong country why can't tell that just as an example? No need to go bananas about it...

Tomi,

I am not going bananas - but I think you have your geography a little confused. The US Post Office was nowhere near this transaction. This was a trade between CANADIAN Provinces - does not have anything to do with USPS.

Bruce,

My point was that you never know where your local post office delivers your package. Unrecieved package doesn't automatically mean the buyer is a scammer. They all are humans and make mistakes (USPS, Canada Post and our local post). Eventhough it's domestic mail it might have slipped to a international mailbag and can take quite awhile to arrive.

If the honest person wants the $5 card but can't justify paying for registered mail and therefore does not bid, that is upsetting to them.

I agree with you, however it is more upsetting to me to lose the card and the money to scammers. At least the buyer who doesn't bid isn't out anything.
