if an ebay member has 33 feedback and a 98% bidding rate with a buyer, would you consider that shill bidding? seems pretty fishy to me... does anyone personally know the ebay member loyerracing from Sorel-Tracy, QC? that is the seller... the item that i am bidding on mysteriously went from $10 to $42 within 45 minutes thanks to one person, the one with the 98% bid rate with the seller. AND there was a bid retraction... put me back in the lead.

any feedback?

The bid retraction is highly suspicious if they have multiple bids leading up to it. I would report it to eBay if it was an auction I had bid on.

Seems fishy, but it looks like he is the high bidder on 2 other auctions for cards from the same set , so he may just be a set builder.

The bid retraction throws a wrench into that theory though.

The bid retraction really makes me suspicious. I would report it to Ebay, point out the bid retraction and see if they do something. Yes.....mostly they will ignore you.....but they do actually do something every once in a while.....

The only time they will do something is if the bid is coming from the same IP or if there has been repeated complaints...

Just had a look at this auction and it is without a doubt a case of shill bidding.

This account : agent248 has been bidding on loyerracing auctions for the past 2 years. It is blatent.

BTW i know of a few HIers who shill their auctions as well, it is RAMPANT.

its so obvious in my mind this is shill bidding. Theres no question in my mind, but ebay just wants more money so they dont care, eh? This ticks me off. Good luck getting this/these guys off ebay, and all these sites because they don't belong in our community. Their in it to make a quick buck is all.

Oh my, take a look at this.

Same seller, oh and hey, bid retraction. Im so surprised. How does this goon still have 100% feedback

EDIT: And look at this, i geuss they "Failed?"
http://offer.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=370181910430
the "shiller" won the item

EDIT 2: From the looks of it, the account used to shill has actually won a few things off him, to me, this looks like he does this on purpose because the price was not right, so he just takes it off the market, pays ebay the small fee, and will eventually relist it again, in hopes of getting a higher bid. Could this be a theory to why hes winning some?

stop bidding big amounts so early on in the auction... It's all you can do. eBay won't do anythning. Why would they? They charge like 20% now in auction fees and the more shill bidders the more money they make.

What eBay should do is cancel ALL bids after a bid retraction and send those bidders an e-mail. Of course, as you say they would only lose money by doing this....

There will always be dishonesty on the bay and shilling will be very common.

Only thing to do is keep sniping

Yes this is shill bidding. As soon as I saw Sorel-Tracy and loyerracing it sparked my own bad memory, which hextall27 has already posted. Sorry to see that they got you too.

regardless of what ebay does, because i did report it and gave all the details that i could, i think that i am gonna neg the seller's @ss regardless. that is friggin' ridiculous. but me, being the obsessive EJ collector that i am, went ahead and paid. :|
