Eddie Lacy Best Rookie Card

Hey all, I am new to the form. I used to collect cards many moons ago, owned a small store at one time actually. A good friend of mine referred me to the form. I am looking at the hobby again to start collecting cards for my 20 month old son. I am a huge Green Bay fan and plan to brainwash him into the same SUPER FAN!

Can you guys help me out for any of you big football collectors. I bought him a two color patch Eddie Lacy /25 Blue Refractor Topps Platinum card but realized it is not a TRUE rookie card.

Can you give me some thoughts on this card?

What TRUE rookie cards do you guys think are the MUST HAVES, price is not really an issue, its more about getting him the best possible ROOKIE card to get him as a long term investment.

I have my eyes on a Panini Contenders Card #208 limited print /99 Variation.

Is this the True rookie to own or are there better ones? Would you recommend the Variation card or the Base card and what is the difference between the two from an investment standpoint?

A lot of questions but appreciate all the help I can get guys!

The Contenders card you are talking about isn't his true RC, it's a parallel version. You are looking for the Contenders that where the one you are watching says playoff, it just says rookie. Won't be numbered on card in Contenders either. As for the Variation question, that is more about preference. Myself, couldn't care about the variation or it being SSP as long as I have a true RC auto of a player I want. Could also look into Limited/Totally Certified/Triple Threads for choices as well. Also Crown Royal just came out and the rookie silhouettes in there are pretty good looking with the patches.

Topps Chrome pure and simple, biggest ceiling value wise.

Chrome is nice for a lot of people though if you want an auto rc of Lacy chrome isn't the way to go.

Surprised to hear that Contendors card is not a true Rookie.

Pucku2cards, what card number is Lacys rookie in Topps Chrome?

What I am looking for is a TRUE ROOKIE, autographed, and Short Print if possible with the most upside investment value!

This is for the hobby not the field so it's allowed lol. The Contenders card is his true rc with an auto but the one /99 is a parallel of that.

See how at the bottom it says rookie? The one you were talking about will say playoff in that spot instead. The Crown Royal Silhouette /299 is his true RC from that set.

As for the Topps Chrome, it is #131 but for his true RC, wouldn't be an auto. Some of the parallel versions are auto'd though like his refractors.

As for the best investment, it's hard to say since once next years cards are released his will tail off on value unless he has an mvl season or big super bowl game.

Now his national treasures is still to come out and his museum is out now as well, but not sure if the base is just regular or auto as all the companies have done a lot of non auto base rc this year compared to years past. hopefully this helps you out some.

I really like the look of the Silhouette Card, I love that it is a true rookie card and has a patch in it to boot!

The Silhouette Card are the way to Go This year blue version number to 5
