Emery to the Flyers?

I'd wait until a source that resembles something more credible than the mental ramblings from Eklunds merry goons reports this.....

....Though the Flyer's don't have tons of cap space and Emery would probably come cheap.

This thread should be combined with the "A little humor for the boards" one :D

Really? Didn't he have a decent sized paycheck in Russia? He must be desperate to get back if he's going to take a huge pay cut just to stay in North America.

Considering how well Russia went for him, I'd think that he'd gladly take a cut to stay here if a team will take a chance on him.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I hope to god not......not only is he a subpar goalie he will also cause a whole pile of trouble we don't need. If they pick him up they are nuts!

Emery definitely seems to fit the Philly mold. He'll be a fitting heir to Hextall.

I'm looking forward to picking up Emery cards next year with him in a Flyers' jersey! Well, ok, a Sens' jersey up until around April 2010. ;)

The Flyers have this obsession with chasing after average goalies. Garth Snow, Jeff Hackett, Sean Burke, Robert Esche, Martin Biron and now Ray Emery. Oh well, good luck with him Flyer fans. I wonder if he and Biron will fight for the starting job

I saw this coming for awhile. Philly is about the only fit for him.

I like Holmgren taking a chance, they should be able to pick him up on the cheap.

He is a good goalie, and was forced to play a scapegoat in Ottawa - he was first of a few.

I like it!!

You're kidding right? Forced to play a scapegoat??? The guy took 6 months to heal from an injury that should have taken half that time. He was ALWAYS late for practice, team meetings and flights. He was the last one to hit the ice at practice and the first to leave. He was in trouble with the law on more than one occasion. He has anger issues. Not sure how this means the team made him a scapegoat but I'd like to hear the explanation

Maybe I'm having selective memory? lol...

He was a problem but the lack of Ottawa scoring after he left certainly showed he wasn't the only problem...

EDIT : I'd take a chance on Emery over Biron...

I think your nuts, N-V-T-S NUTS!!!!!!

Biron is not a bad goalie, he proved that.

i would also like to keep biron. its not the goalies fault if the defense doesnt play in front of him.

Ray Emery to the Flyers....

So here in the phila, area the big talk on sports talk radio today is that the flyers have a deal in place that as soon as the july 1 FA timeline opens they are going to sign Ray Emery to be there goalie this year.

1) does this guy still have his skills that took Ottawa to the cup a few years back (hes only 26 too)

2) does he have a head on his shoulders, or did the flyers just take the T.O. of hockey? I have heard numerous horror stories of how he can be trouble in the locker room

3) does he fit the phila, mentality (hextall style, not saying he is as good as hex), or is he just nuts.

thanks
