Emery to the Flyers?

I think he will be great at least in the first year. He`s got something to prove, and I think it is worth taking a flyer(sorry bad pun) out on him. Worst case scenario they can send him to the minors or buy him out. He will probably be had for cheap so I buy out won`t handcuff any team.

Kind of reminds me of Belfour when he left Dallas, and that first year he was great for the Leafs.

He's a good goalie and does deserve another shot.If it's one place that can put up with him ,it's philly.

lol he definately will fit in as a flyer. But I thought he went over to Russia. What happened with that??

can't stay in Russia forever, brotha. for one, i am excited at the prospect of seeing my man R.E. playing on North American ice again. on the other hand, i am not really ready for card companies to start producing cards of him again, as i am having a fun time filling the holes in my PC without all the new stuff to chase...

Philly doesn't put up with off-ice stuff well. Barkley and Iverson, T.O., and Scott Rolen come to mind. Also, remember, we Philly fans are so rude, why would you think he'd have an easy ride in Philly compared to other places? We like our fiery players, but we like a bit of skill (which is why we DON'T like players like Cote and Carcillo, on the whole) which is why we liked Hextall. I don't get why people say he fits on Philly so well.

Im on the fence about this potential deal. I dont think he should start. I hope he truly earns the spot in the pre-season.

Horrible...thats all I have to say...He's a subpar goalie who is even worse by the fact he causes so much drama off the ice. I say he lasts 1/2 a year. We need a "REAL" goalie this seems like a band aid fix to a legitimate problem. I really think this is going to be a serious issue this year if this guy pulls any stunts. Don't understand the logic in this move??? Maybe they are out of cap space and need to find a decent goalie cheap???? I say try to unload Briere before the summer is over and pick up a free agent goalie. I believe a number of decent goalies will be available........MAN first we get crappy Briere and now this...

Its getting harder and harder to cheer for this team......

Why do people continue to think that Briere can/will be moved? Any team that he'd waive his NTC clause to (a contender) will not take his salary, especially after this year.

Philadelphia filled out the "which 1990's NHL Team are you?" quiz. The answer: "You are the New York Islanders."

The start of many bad decisions I see them making....

I'm dreaming of course. I know darn well we'll never be rid of him until his contract expires...This is simply me dreaming aloud.......:|:|:dance: Wishing and praying. BTW I have your Ice Richards card avilable if your interested.

JD, if you rememeber, his contract was front loaded, so his salary actually goes down over the life of the contract. It may help, but I do see it being tough to move him though.

One word: CANCER

I stated it in the other thread. The guy was late for practices, meetings and flights. He was the last one on the ice and first one to leave at EVERY practice. He took his sweet a$$ time healing from an injury instead of rehabbing to come back quicker. He got in trouble with the law on more than one occasion.

With all of that, he's average at best. If the guy was Roy-like, I'd understand taking a chance but he'll never be a top-notch goaltender

I've got to admit I have been agreeing with alot of your posts lately!!!! Couldn't agree more. Plus you being a Ottawa resident saw alot more then the rest of us with regard to his theatrics!

That doesn't matter. His cap hit is still ridiculous, and that's really all teams care about.

As for Emery, as a Pens fan, I'm thrilled that this seems like pretty much a done deal. It seems like the Flyers just refuse to go out and get a legitimate goalie.

Even though I'm a sens fan, I wouldn't mind Emery coming back (just not here). As for those who want Nittymaki and Biron over Emery, Emery will be 2 mil whereas The other two will be at least 7 for the 2. And seeing as the Flyers have pretty much NO cap space, Emery is logical and would be available for less than someone else of his skill level because of his past.
