at least for Superbowl Sunday

Smith, who starred for the Dallas Cowboys for 13 seasons and spent the past two years with the Arizona Cardinals, will make the announcement in the afternoon at the site of the Super Bowl, according to the sources, who spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

He is expected to sign a one-day contract with Dallas so he can retire as a Cowboy. Dallas owner Jerry Jones will be at the ceremony.

The 35-year-old Smith ran for 18,355 yards and 164 touchdowns in his career, both NFL records. He rushed for 937 yards and nine touchdowns for the Cardinals this season.

I like how Emmitt caleed out the "sources" to imply he wasn't retiring. Even though is very much seems he will, I hate it when ESPN jumps the gun on stories (see the McGahee/Henry story they made up).
