Enforcers II auto set

I'm wondering if anyone on here has taken on the task of actually putting this set together be it just as the base set or actually including the duals. I set out to do it but with very few short prints surfacing and selling for huge amounts I'm second guessing actually putting it together. I tried for series one but am still without the Probert's….. this new set seems to be almost impossible with very few sp.'s hitting the market.
 
Gordie Howe is on eBay priced at $529 iirc and the duel with Howe and Fontinato is on there as well. Same price, same seller.
 
Yeah, way over priced in my opinion. The sp's have went thru the roof in pricing, at least with series 1 they were in the $40-50 range for a good few months before heading way up. Well aside from the Probert, his auto always demanded a good price.

last howe at auction went for $280ish the dual auto set would be, pardon the pun, tough. They seem to fall 1: 5 or more cases. Not common at all and there is a lot of them. Not to mention the Hanson Bros. triple which probably has a print run of 5
 
I'm not interested in putting together the set, but on a side note, I think it's good to finally see some ITG cards pulling in good market value on the secondary market. It might lead to people actually breaking more of their stuff which is a plus for those of us who are looking for select cards from their products.
 
The only ITG Auto set I've ever tried putting together is 11-12 Between The Pipes (still working on it) and while it's a very different set (goalies, lots more 'active' guys, and some very cheap to buy prospects) I would imagine the deal with SPs holds true from one of their sets to the next:

When they call it an SP, it's almost always goingt to be hard to find.

I'm still missing 11 cards for that set - and it's a not a matter of not wanting to pay a fair price for the card.... I simply can't find copies of them. 4 of them are not even marked as SPs, yet there doesn't seem to be any available?

In the case of Enforcers - when you're dealing with ultra popular guys like Probert & Howe, putting them into a set that's going to have a few very dedicated set builders (not to mentioned player collectors wanting those cards) it doesn't surprise me, at all, that those cards would go for big money.


Has anyone even seen a copy of the Hanson triple ?
 
I'm doing the base non-auto set of Enforcers II. Not a lot of them around. Price of boxes will have to get down so that people start breaking the product again.
 
Know a few people doing the auto set and I have to say this product has been a highlight for me on the ITG stuff. Love breaking it and kept some stuff as well
 
I really hope that once the Xmas pack that ITG is putting out his the public it will yield a few duals that maybe hit the market or the boards. I have 7 of the duals but that is a huge way off of completing the set. I didn't think this would be an easy set to put together but I think unless a few hit the boards for trade I might have to rethink trying it myself. I might have to back away from the duals and just focus on the base auto's.

having 7 of those duals is impressive. It won't be an overnight set or even a year long hunt, but i'd stick with the slow chase.

Speaking only as a collector and not a manufacturer, isn't the idea of collecting to take your time, have a pet project and collect the entire set over time as the cards you need become available?

Let's put gott'em - need 'em back into the hobby.

So happy to hear that.

When I was ten years old and collecting my Parkhurst sets, no one ripped and flipped.

They all ripped and traded until you had your complete set.

Those were the good old days.

I'm at 3 for the single autos, all sp's... Neely,Howe and Lindsay. It stings a little when you see so many other autos if those 3 going for In a lot of cases half the price of the enforcers autos... But when I get them, and I will, it will be well worth it. I pulled a duel auto and after a few weeks of thinking about maybe doing the set i decided against it, money is tight this time of year and it's gonna be bad enough with the other 3 I need
 
It's a really good point, and I think my answer would be "probably somewhere in the middle"

Quite honestly - If you make a set with no SPs, and all 'cheap' cards, what's the fun in building it? If there is no challenge, it does take some of the fun out of it.

Using the example of my last post (not Enforcers II) that's why I've been working on BTP 11-12 since it was brand new. Cards are hard to find.... I'm at the point where I usually go a couple of months in between picking new ones up. I'm pretty patient though, comited to the project, and it's going to be that much better when it's finished.


Having said that, I can see where people might get frustrated. People building sets want to be able to finish sets - and when the cards they need to finish them become impossible to locate, that's going to drive them crazy.

i bought 4 instigators from him and he claims he never got the payment, hope fully he gets it soon.
 
Action Coins and Cards has the Boughner duel auto as well...only one I've seen and as much as my collection has solely become Boughner I cannot warrent paying that much for an auto of him and Churla who I have absolutely no interest in. Do I want it for completionist issues? Yes, but I just cannot justify dropping that coin for it. :(
