Expo Goers "what you need to know" thread.

Alright, about time for one of these as well. I'll get it rolling.

- Wantlists. Have a clear list of what you're hunting for. If it's something a little less common, have a pic or bring an example.

- Money. Canadian currency. Lotta dealers won't mind, but some will. There is a bank machine or two on site, but they run out by late Saturday.

Also FYI, Canada has recently started replacing $50 and $100 paper notes with polymer notes instead. These are perfectly legal tender. More info about them is available here.

- Take your time. It's seldom that anything will disappear immediately. Take your time, walk around, comparison shop.

- SHOES. REALLY GOOD SHOES. Cannot emphasize this enough.

The return of Hobby Insider name tags...still so many people on this site haven't met and whose HI handles everyone knows but don't have a face to put to a name.

Bring water or snacks as the drinks there are expensive and the food makes for a wonderful (AND expensive) laxative. The beef jerky guy is awesome but if you don't like pepperoni ans the such, his presence doesn't really matter.

you can afford $12 just to get into the expo but cant afford $3 for a stick of deodorant? Come on man, me having to leave someones table and taking my wallet with me because you smell like a combination of garlic, sausage, feet, and an old tuna can baking in the summer heat, isnt fair for me, or the Dealer who's table I just left. I cant believe we still have this problem in 2012.
 
To add to the want lists. If you can print it off with a contact number that works well as dealers will contact you after expo should they run into the cards on ur want list.

Be nice too, if you are nice to people they tend to be nice back to you.

Always remember to have fun that's what counts.

Not true Brian, not true...

The Hobby Insider booth is likely to be set up again. Still working on the details, but in the event I can make it work, I hope members spend some time there.

In addition, I will be set up at booth #602 and hope to see members stop by my booth as well as other HI members' booths.
 
Remember to bring sunglasses if you're going to be on the same side of the International Center as Steve and his shirts. And a barf bag. His shirts have a tendency to induce blindness, vertigo and nausea when staring directly at it.

Cannot overemphasize my agreement and support for the arguments in favour of HYGIENE.
 
Last fall was my first trip to the expo and this thread helped me out quite a bit.

Two things that I'd like to add to the list is wetnaps or hand sanitizer and I took a small travel size suitcase to wheel around. It was nice not to have to lug my cards around all day...I could just wheel them behind me.

Lastly, if you're not there to have fun....don't go.

How about the Expo uping the admission charge by $3, and including the deodorant with the admission ticket? Good call on the hand sanitizer by the way, I was just thinking about that 2-3 days ago, I got a bottle in my car that goes everywhere I go!
