Yes $200 for a single-colored Timeline /99 with my PC-guy who appears to be a "common" goalie according to beckett is just plain insane...

But NT is an extremely nice product and it's also Panini's last release for hockey (ever?)
so the prices will be for sure pretty crazy for some weeks forward from here and now.
Just be patient with those NT's who aren't that low-printed for some weeks.

K i get that NT is nice, and the patch is nice, but over $8k? Come on, seriously? Please tell me i am not the only one that thinks this was overpaid for by $5k? Some of the prices that I see people listing NT at is insane!

It isn't insane if someone is willing to pay that price. This product had such hype, it's nice to see it come to fruition! :)

Wow, if that sale holds up, that's pretty awesome. Good for the seller and good for the hobby.

Kudos to the seller for selling so high, but yes it is insane for the buyer to pay that much if the sale does not fall through. Let's take a step back and put it into perspective. We all love the hobby...we all love pretty cards, but $8200 for a card /99, that is pure mentality. $8200 can buy you a car, 6-8 50" flat screen TVs, 8 months of a mortgage. My argument is not even spending lots of money for hockey cards, but moreso overpaying by $5000. I guess some people have money to burn, hyped product or not.

By the way, some people already have 4 cars, 6-7 flat screen tvs, no mortgage to pay and lots of money in the bank...

No kidding!! Hahaha, I should not be surprised. Every year this happens with cup...people spend $400-500 on a box and think every card is worth a fortune. Base cards for $50, jersey cards for $200, shields for $20,000. The hype will wear of, it ALWAYS does.

So happy that cards are actually selling well. It is still such a buyers market but with people paying $400+ a pack can you blame them for wanting good return when they actually hit a good card?

Did the person overpay for the card, that can be argued both ways but as long as the buyer is happy that is all that matters. Could they have had one for $5000 less the next couple of days, I'm sure they could have but they got the one they wanted.

I really do hope the sale goes through as the seller is a great guy.

No, this was just my response to you justifying it comparing it to Crosby, and I was just pointing out Mack is not Crosby.

As I mentioned in one of my previous comments in this thread, it's not that they paid a lot...it is the fact that they overpaid by about $5000. Other 3 colours of the same card have sold in the $2000-2500 range.

Am I the insane one here thinking that it is outrageous to just throw away an extra 5k? Regardless of whether someone has 10 cars, 50 TVs and no mortage, it is throwing money out.

Clearly I am the unreasonable one here.:crazy:

The swatch was very nice, one of the nicest we've seen so far and obviously the buyer was willing to pay that price. Who cares what that person paid? I'm just happy to see such excitement for a product. NT has turned out to be all it was hyped to be and MORE! That's GOOD for the hobby!!!

not to mention that card has a clean signature and is centered well...several macks have his auto crooked and almost on the edge of the card!
 
It's not great if you want to add one to your collection. It is great if you pulled one and don't collect MacKinnon. Glad for seller and the buyer really wanted it so good on them too. Should make the 4 or 5 color Cup MacKinnon auctions interesting this fall. lol You may see the MacKinnon Cup #29/99 that is featured in the UD promotional material for Cup sell for over $10,000. Scary what Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel might sell for next year. :whatthehell:
 
The nerve of someone who has the resources to get what they want doing so!

I guess after a season of seeing people trying to pay rock bottom prices for nearly every card produced, it's a bit of a shock to the system for some to see people willing to pay premium prices for a premium product.
 
People will complain that they don't get enough value for cards, and then complain when cards get too much value. Guess we'll never win.
