fake 72 future trends autos

Just having a discussion with another member and we are trying to figure out what the future trends autos look like.

Apparently there is a fascimilie of the Orr auto on the boxes. Some may have been cut out to look like the real thing, but with a blank back.

Anyone else know??

As far as I am aware all of the autos from future trends 1972 are Moire autos. There is a swirl pattern and texture on the autos. I also believe they were signed with gold ink. Although there may be sliver ink versions as well.
 
Hudsons Bay Company (I think) issued a pile of regular cards that may or may not have ben signed by the players. Dryden may or may not have been in a few of these sets. Some of these sets produced a notoriously awful Harry Sinden signature.
 
Also: No blank backs. Orr signed 76 cards (and sold them on his website at one time) but never signed for the 72 set.

I have the Hudsons bay set and mine has 17 autographs, all but the Frank Mahovlich are in gold, and yes the Sinden is awful, basically a S with a line throgh it.

Yes, the box tops of the 1976 version do contain a picture of the Bobby Orr autographed card. I have seen people cut off the box top and try to sell as a legit copy. Just make sure the bar with his name is shiny gold and doesn't match the dullness of the gold in the autograph.
 
THe Orr was known as the cheapman's auto, at least the blank back was. It was the top of the box, people used to cut them card size and sell them. It is not a real auto but more of a faxcilime(sp), like MVP stuff. There were 2 kinds of auto, pack pulls and The Bay ones. The Bay ones had a swirl in the background but was extremely hard to see unless you had the 2 side by side. I believe the Bay ones were easier to get. this seller swears that its some uber rare insert.

Unfortunately, I fell for it, and am in the process of making a claim because the auction never said it was a facsimile.
 
The swirl is on the pack pulled cards...the Bay set had regular cards that were signed and sold as part of the set for $159.99 sold in a snap case with a gold seal on the front of it. The blank backs were just the box tops for the Orr card.
