Fake Bobby Hull RC? I haven't seen this before...

It clearly says reprint on the label, but the RP in the description might be misleading. I've never seen that. Never mind the fact that the seller graded a reprint. Why bother?

Chris

im kinda surprised (well, not really) that a company would grade a reprint. But if they card owner is willing to for out the cash I guess it's hard to say no.

Not really a scam? Come on...

Unauthorized reprints are the epitome of scam-like behaviour... the fact that a person could crack the card out of the cheesy basement grading company's holder and try to mislead an unsuspecting buyer makes me cringe.

Also, I have been around this hobby for a long time and yet to see a counterfeit Hull rookie... makes you wonder what card is next! Maybe they've been around for years, but it's pretty depressing to see.

No fake here, just a reprint card that he had graded. No different than grading any other card.
Dan.

When did Topps ever reprint the Hull RC on traditional card stock? They didn't, and this is why it's a counterfeit and not a reprint.

For example, the 2001-02 Parkhurst Reprints are reprints since the In The Game had the right to reproduce them. When the Viper Cards scumbags made a 1951-52 Parkie "reprint", it was actually a counterfeit item since they did not have permission or the licensing necessary.

It should also be noted that a "basement company" created a "RepliCard" version of the Hull RC (along with several other key vintage hockey cards) around 1991. They at least went to the lengths of making the back different enough where you would have a hard time being fooled. There's one on Ebay at the moment http://cgi.ebay.ca/BOBBY-HULL-ROOKI...tZUS_Hockey_Trading_Cards?hash=item2ea95665f0

The only one I can find is from the 01-02 Topps Archive set, but these have the stamp right on the card so it could'nt be used.
Dan.

There were some authorized reprints in the 1998-99 Topps and Topps Chrome releases to go along with the 01-02 Archives. None of those are on traditional stock.

So you're saying the card itself is fake to begin with. I must admit I just figured it was a card that came from one of the Topps rookie reprint issues. If they're doing what you suggest, then yes it's definately unacceptable.

Unfortunately, this "GMA Grading" company is a total joke that caters to scammers. If you look on their website, they offer to slab your cards with the grade that YOU assign them! Or, you can receive their labels to "make your own graded cards"... what a crock!

The card actually says "reprint" right on the back of the card (next to the card #66)....plus it is written everywhere else in the auction AND on the holder, so I don't see the problem at all. The only scam here is someone believing that this "grading" company actually is legit..
