Fall Toronto Expo - Does It Happen?

Everything seems to be moving real quick. Ontario has less than 500 cases these days. Canadian government seems to be moving quick to remove quarentine for fully vaccinated people. Border could seemingly open some time in the summer.

I don't think it's will it, it's just a matter of how for the Fall Expo.

The improvement in the numbers is encouraging. Relaxation of domestic travel restrictions is a good start. There is also renewed appeal to open the border.

There have been years where it was too crowded. I'm all for timed tickets. You have 1, 2 or max 3 hour slots. It's a good way to control the slots. And that way, we do go over the maximum amount of people in the venue at a certain time. Plus there are always cops around, so I'm sure they would be able to enforce this policy very easily.

I'm much more optimistic that it may happen now... things seem to be improving. But a reduction in attendees, reduced access, time slots... it's not that simple. How does the economics work for the promoter, corporate sponsors and the vendors? There's a lot more to think about then just attendee logistics.

I'm all for crowd control, but I would not be in favour of timed (1, 2, 3 hour) slots.

I'm sure everyone has their way of navigating the expo but, personally, I like to spend time going thru the expo and each table. That takes a few hours at least. Then, after a quick break, I like to go back to the tables that peaked my interest.

Again everyone does things differently, but personally timed slots would not work for me.

It is not uncommon for people to come and stay the day. Timed tickets definitely put an end to that. Not to mention...enforcement?

Ontario just moved up 2nd doses to next week. Fully vaccinated adults should be completed by August. I say the Fall Expo happens :)

The flights from India didn't get halted quick enough and the vaccine resistant variant D already has a strong foothold in the GTA. I think it is premature to think that we are out of the woods yet.

It is just as likely that the variant arose naturally here. The virus shows convergent evolution; the documented mutations are all very similar in nature and effect.

Alberta will lift restrictions July 1st.

Ontario is hitting stage 2 June 30th. I would think they hit Stage 3 some time in July. Assuming everything is steady. Maybe by September they allow indoor gatherings, if they can open Bingo Halls in stage 3.

Is two months enough for the expo to get organized if they get the green light in September?

The Hockey Hall of Fame ceremony is November 12-15. That usually falls the same weekend as the Expo. As of right now the ceremony is still planned to go ahead. If it’s a go, the Expo will be a go.

I know that they are typically scheduled for the same weekend but am I missing something obvious here? I don't follow how the HOF Ceremony taking place would guarantee that the Expo also does. The ceremony could occur regardless of the number of people who are allowed to attend however, I doubt the same could be said for the Expo.

Usually the Expo has autograph sessions with many of the Hall of Famers in town for the ceremony.

Yes but if there is still a limit on the number of people who can attend an indoor event a HOF ceremony doesn't translate into the Expo taking place as you have implied.

We had a show out here in Fairfield ,Ca(I didn't go to far away) For what I heard there was 200 tables & on Sat there was 1,400 people attending & Sun about 1,000. It was inside a mall store front (Old Navy Shop). People a itching to get out. Good Luck with the Expo
