Upstanding Member,
It's been such a busy summer and fall that I've hardly had the chance to share any of my latest pickups. But one of my most recent purchases had me making sure to do some photo-taking and uploading.
So while I've been watching the latest instalment of the Battle Of Alberta tonight, I've been getting a little caught up with my Linden collection.
Let's begin storytime by talking about my (still daily) hunting for Trevor Linden cards that have eluded me. There have been many new releases - and a number of parallels, that I've just seen come and go. Too many to chase and my wallet thanks me for not going after them all.
But recently I kept seeing a few higher-end Linden cards pop up that I needed. All from the same seller.
At first, I thought some of the cards from the stolen Linden collection a couple years back had finally surfaced, but twas not the case (he has serial numbers) and so I started keeping a closer eye on the auctions. Prices were fair and I was more than a little intrigued.
I let a few pass by, but then saw this card.
Now I have been a staunch opponent of the Vault cards put out a few years back. Don't appeal to me, no checklist and just a product dump IMO. That....and the crazy-high prices some people were asking on them "because they were 1/1s".
Anyways, there have been a few cards that have been stamped and released that have caught my eye and when I saw this one up for grabs by the seller, I finally caved.
And I caved in more way than one.
I contacted the seller and asked if he was a Linden collector. He said that he was a Canucks fan and was looking to get rid of a good chunk of his collection. I asked if he would mind taking a look at my wantlist and he agreed.
He commented on how small my wantlist was (only a guy who knows his Linden cards would say that) and he provided a list of cards he had that I needed.
After a little back and forth, I bought them all. So let the show & tell begin.
To put it bluntly.....I bought a few Vault cards. Not because I'm on board with the concept, but because they were so cheap - and I could knock off a lot of 'em at once (Linden has over 100 unique Vault cards in the release.... :loosest: )
The autos are nice, especially the Canada vs The World. I like that one a lot.
Yawn.
Yeah....like I said, a lot of Vault cards. Nice to add them, but most don't do anything for me other than allow me to cross them off the list.
Now....let's get to the meat of the post.
Hard signed plate. Not bad. But even printing plates are a little overdone these days.
I like the Trilogy pucks (and I really like the looks of the vertical design this past season).
Team Canada auto. One of my favourite releases last season. This was a nice one to add.
Any dual with Bure (am I allowed to say his name?
) is a choice one to cross off the list.

/2 This is the type of parallel-hell that makes me pull the foot off the gas fast. Nice to knock all of these off in one fell swoop. Some nice patches in there.
Here are the top three from my haul.
This Twig Sigs is a nice card. It's /15 and the design is pretty sharp.
Bure/Linden auto /2 gets the runner up position. It's a real nice add to the PC.
Love these hard-signed cards from UD Premier. The Inked Scripts concept is a definite fave of mine and the 'Captain's Crew' is a nice touch. This one is /5 but I've got an even softer spot for the /25 ('Captain Canuck').
So there we go. A giant haul for my Linden collection and from a volume standpoint, it's the biggest malady in probably two decades. I remember a Linden collector from way back that sold off his collection and I landed a bunch of show stamped cards. That was a big day for me. This purchase brought back some of those memories.
But that's not the end of my show & tell.
A couple weeks back we had the Card Show here in town and I (as always) went to check out the deals and hopefully snag a card or two. And boy did I.
I was making the rounds and came up to a table and got to chatting. He asked what I was looking for and I said "Linden". He said he had a card that I might be interested in and proceeded to open up this massive case under his table.
He sifted through box after box and then said "Trust me...I am not wasting you're time." That had my ears perked. He either had something really nice....or had no clue whatsoever.
He found the card and placed it on the display case. He was right - he was not wasting my time. It was a beauty. I tried my best to keep a solid poker face as I asked how much he had it priced for. He said he had never considered a price until just then. He asked for me to make an offer. So I did.
And he accepted.
And I raced to the bank machine.
And here it is.

That was a nice find and really puts a bow on this post.
Oh.....sorry. One last card.
Any card show I go to is fun. It's a chance to window shop, hunt for goodies and chat with collecting folks that have a real passion and interest in the hobby. I met up with Dave (canucksfreak19) and although he was battling a nasty case of laryngitis he was a gamer and toughed it out. It was fun talking to him and I happened to notice a nice card on his table. I snagged it quick to add to the collection. He must have wondered why I bought it.
Well......it's got a jersey numbered 16 on it. Only Linden wears 16 right???
:speechless:
Yeah, I've got a nice trader to add to the box.
Lesson to all......no matter how excited you are when you find a card, make sure it is of the player you are chasing....not just the jersey number. :duh:
And that's it. I've seen enough of the Flames comeback to know that the night is getting late. Ha ha.
Cheers all.
