This will be my first trip to the Expo and I have a question.

I have a few hundred graded cards mostly from the 70's, mainly Topps, mostly Sabres (except about half of a 79 Topps set) and most are PSA 8s and 9s. They are all extras that I have upgraded in my collection. I don't need to sell them but they are taking up space and won't ever be displayed which is against a rule I have for my collection. I've just been to busy / lazy to scan and list them on eBay.

So I was wondering if it would be worth hauling them with me to either trade or sell at the Expo?

Any and all advice is welcome. If you know of any Dealers that will be there that would possibly be interested I'd be happy to get there names as well.

Thanks,
Kevin

You know in most cases when you sell or trade with a dealer you're going to take a hit on your stuff because they will want to make a profit. Once you get past that I would say there would be some interest for sure, as I know there are vintage buyers who sell/attend the Expo. One of the best vintage sellers out there is Martin Sports. I believe he is a regular at the Expo. I'd head to his table and see if he would be interested. He has loads of nice cards.

Always nice to reach out on a site like this prior to and try to strike a deal. That way you are bringing them knowing they are sold.

I've purchased a few cards from Jason so I'll email him and see if he would be interested or know someone who might be.

On a sepereate note I'm booked to stay at the Harbour Castle and I'm going to the Leafs vs Bruins HOF game on Friday. Any Torontonians have craft beer or whiskey bar suggestions down in that area?

Thanks,
Kevin

Amsterdam Brewery in Queens Quay or Mill Street Brewery in the Distillery district are good bets. If you're ok to travel a bit Black Creek Pioneer Village makes old fashioned non-carbonated beer that you can only get on site.

I am used to some really bad traffic, but you may want to think about relocating closer to the Pearson Airport on Saturday after the game. Not sure how the weekend traffic is in Toronto, but from my experience, the weekday traffic is brutal. I guess it all depends on how much time you plan on being at the expo vs. downtown and what your transportation options are.

Beer Bistro on King has an outstanding beer menu and isn't far from your hotel.

I've been to TO before so I'm familiar with the traffic. I changed my plans and will be arriving Thursday evening. The only time I'll be concerned is on the trip back downtown on Friday evening to make sure I leave enough time to get to the game. Sat will be a stop on the way back to Buffalo. I wanted to be downtown so it was only a walk/stumble home from the bar on Thursday and Friday night.

@quincy Thanks for the tip about the Beer Bistro!

Hey Kevin-

This may be a good option for you for the Friday....

They opened this metro express service from downtown to Pearson Airport about a year or so ago. It is approx. $25 Can roundtrip from Union Station to Pearson. You could then either catch a cab to the expo from the airport or even just walk. Just another option...being from the DC area, just the thought of Friday traffic in general gives me nightmares LOL.

Dave and Adams sets up for purchasing purposes. They are based in the Buffalo area and MIGHT be interested in your Sabres cards. You might want to reach out to them asap and set something up if you're bringing these up with you.

Might want to look into GO Transit from Union to the convention center and I believe they have a station right there within a 5 - 10 minute walking distance.
Probably it's a half hour ride from downtown.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. The express train from Union seems ideal. Leaves every 15 mins and it’s a 20 min ride. Perfect! This way I can set up a hard departure time from the Expo and be assured of having time to drop off my haul at the hotel and time for a beer too.

Thanks again for the tips!
Kevin
