Flames 17/30??

TSN pre-ranking has Calgary come in at #17. Only 16 teams make the playoffs... is it just me or does this not seem a tad low? The Oilers have not been posted yet, which means TSN thinks Edmonton will be better... does Khabby make them that much better? I know I'm starting a battle of Alberta thread... and I don't really want it to degrade to this. Just asking if I'm the only one that thinks this is crazy prediction or not?

Its low. If they haven't filled every team in, its probably just a typo. I don't think anyone who understands hockey would think that Calgary would be 17. And to answer the other question, yes Khabby makes the Oilers better. But its the coaching change that will be the biggest difference maker on that team.

Yea they rated calgary way to low, even tho losing all that depth scoring up front and basically relying on iginla and jokinen, i would still think they be 7th-5th place in western, and oilers still trying to squeeze in for the 8th.

Although it would make me positively giddy with happiness, I can't see this being anywhere near accurate.

I agree with Byron. Average to above-average regular season, first or second in the division, and yet another first-round exit.

I wouldn't put too much stock in this.

Last season, they had the Wild winning the NW, and Vancouver at 11 in the conference, finishing just slightly above Colorado. They had the Flames at 8 in the conference, finishing third in the division.

TSN has Montreal in the 18th position range, yet they predict Price to get 30 wins, and Halak 18. That puts them in the 10-11 range int he league. But hey it's fun to read

It's definitely inaccurate, and I agree with the sentiment here, take it with a grain of salt. A playoff team in 08/09 with a major upgrade in coach and on defense, the ranking doesn't really seem to be based on any sort of reason.

The thing that irks me is that TSN pays someone to research this and write this drivel. Most of us here could probably come up with a more accurate list than TSN.
