Sort of sad to see one of the two 'dores leave town but with Dion ready to step in to the lineup, someone had to go. I think Mike was due to make $450,000 this year, pretty pricey for a guy who might only play a dozen games or so.

Flames trade Commodore

We'll miss ya' Mikey!

I honestly didn't understand how he was kept around the last season. He was up, he was down, to me this was an easy decision when you look at what is coming in.

He became very pretty popular with the fans during that playoff run...I'd dare to say that he was #3 behind Iggy and Kipper. And Conroy. And Marty. And Niemo....

Aw who am I kidding....WE LOVED 'EM ALL!!! GO FLAMES GO!!!!!!

awe, why did they have to trade him, I mean come on, who else in the NHL sports an Orange AFRO! He will be missed

They had to keep him because he was all that was left from the Niedermayer fiasco. ;)

Isn't that the truth? :D
I thought the guy was great too, but as an on ice player, he's a minor league guy at best. Any new updates on what's happening with Iggy yet?

I agree to an extent with that. Having watched him play college hockey at UND, and I know, college is not the NHL....but if he plays smart and keeps the pim's down, he isn't a bad guy to have on the blueline as a 5th or 6th d-man. Never going to be a top guy, but has the ability to be a good night in and night out guy if he works and has the right attitude.

Thanks for the info!

Sorry to see Mike head east to the 'Canes!

Seeing as his mother is the Principal of the school in Fort Saskatchewan. He had his head shaved after the playoffs to help raise money for the school! Great stand up kinda guy!

He was the master of batting the puck out of his zone with one hand. It's lucky the Flames had him around last season, cause they got pretty deep on the depth chart in the playoffs, and he did what was expected.
