Missing blueliner Shea Weber for the next three games because of a suspension, Team Canada's defence needed reinforcing at the World Championship and that help will be coming in the person of Calgary Flames defenceman Dion Phaneuf.

Great to see Dion step up and committ....

Ummm... yeah, except when they first asked him, he declined. I find it odd his 'injury' healed so quickly that he now feels ready to go. More likely he heard it from someone for not saying yes and was lucky enough to get another chance.

He'll definitely help the blueline, but man, they need some skill on that team. 4-2 to Norway??

i assume he got the idea that saying no to Steve Yzerman now may be a mistake. He may not get a call down the road for 2010 if he is on the bubble.
