In all realisticness (is that even a word?) a 6th rounder is pretty good for a marginal 4th line grinder. He played pretty well early on in the season, but eventually he slowed down to everybody else's expectations of him.
Freeing up payroll helps, especially when they just brought in Nedved and his contract. I'd expect them to put big Keith on the IR too and clear his salary off this year's books. That way he can rest up and maybe come back and play in the postseason essentially for free and they can trade for a 2nd line scoring winger to take pressure off Carter, Richards and Handzus for secondary offense.
