Given the option of having a West-Coast game or an East-Coast game start at 4 PM, the logical choice would be to make the East-Coast game early, and the West Coast game later. But oh no, not when the mighty Yankees are playing. Why would they choose to put some no-name Phillies team (only 2 consecutive WS appearances, chumps) playing on the West Coast on when they could put a game played in NY on late? Because of this, the first home game of the NLCS for the Giants was played on a Tuesday at 1 PM. That is despicable, and a huge slap in the face to Giants fans. No one at work was able to watch 1 minute of the game. People going to the game were forced to take a full day of work off, while Yankees fans got to work their full day and watch the entire game. ANY TIME you have a West Coast and East Coast game on the same day during the work week, the West Coast game should get the later start 100% of the time, no matter what the teams are. Another reason I hate the Yankees.

The roles are reversed today - the ALCS is the early game at 4 ET and the NLCS goes at 4:30 PM PT.

Since the LCS are on two different TV outlets - they have to split them as evenly as possible for the prime time slots. The other consideration is TV schedules - Fox wasn't going to do their game on a Tuesday night - not when they have their top show in Glee - which makes them a lot more money in ad revenue and ratings than baseball would. And since Fox is paying MLB a pile of money for the broadcast rights, they do get to call the tune somewhat in terms of scheduling.

I really don't blame baseball, or any other sport for that matter, catering to the Yankees/Red Sox, Cowboys, Notre Dame Football, Lakers, etc - they know they will make way more money and have significantly higher viewership if they get the best market on in the best slot. Sucks for everyone else but business is business and revenue is revenue.

And this is why I blame them. To them, it's much better to screw a fanbase than get 10% less viewers for Prime Time.
